Star Wars Franchise Getting Two Manga Adaptations by Yen Press

If you are a Star Wars fan as well as an avid manga reader, then we have some great news for you! Yen Press has licensed ‘Star Wars Leia, Princess of Alderaan,’ and Star Wars Rebelsmanga for release. This liaison between the Star Wars series and the manga industry might just be the pleasant news needed in this dim situation of a pandemic.

Both the mangas are licensed, but their launch dates haven’t been announced yet. Yen Press has reassured the fans to update them with further details soon.

Claudia Gray’s Leia, Princess of Alderaan, is a young adult novel serving as the base to the manga version of it. The novel by Claudia Gray was published by Disney-Lucasfilm Press in 2017 as a part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi series. The manga by Haruichi was launched on the LINE Manga app on May 4th.

Haruichi is the winner of the 70th Chiba Tetsuya Award (Young Division), Best New Artist Award, and has created mangas based on Marvel characters like Deadpool, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Storyline

Leia Organa is pushed to go through the trials for the Queen of Alderaan at the age of 16. She has to learn the physical arts as well as about politics. Young Leia falls in love with a kind Kia whom she met at the Youth Assembly.

On the other hand, she finds out a hidden truth about her parents. Leia gets torn in between her responsibility towards Alderaan and the galaxy soon to be crushed by the Empire.

Star Wars Rebels debuted June 2019 and is an adaptation of the Star Wars Rebels animated series. The original animated series was aired on DisneyXD from 2014-2018. Akira Aoki is the famed author and illustrator of the manga version of the series.

The plot of Star Wars Rebels revolves around a motley of odd rebels. Amongst them is Erza Bridger, a con artist from the planet of Lothal. The Galactic Empire is hunting down the Jedis when this ragtag group stands against them.
