Stan’s daughters take Sony’s side on the matter

Stan Lee’s daughter sides with Sony in the partnership ordeal over the Spider-Man.

Stan Lee’s daughter Joan Lee has expressed her anti-trust concerns over Disney. While the whole world has lambasted Sony, Joan has taken Sony’s side in the present dispute.

According to her, she desired to see Disney and Marvel “checked and balanced” as they seek control over Stan Lee’s legendary creations. “Whether it’s Sony or someone else’s, the continued evolution of Stan’s characters and his legacy deserves multiple points of view,” she said.

She is not happy with the level of control Kevin Fiege has or that the company has over the character her father Stan Lee created decades ago.

“When my father died, no one from Marvel or Disney reached out to me,” Lee said. “From day one, they have commoditised my father’s work and never shown him or his legacy any respect or decency. In the end, no one could have treated my father worse than Marvel and Disney’s executives.”

What’s the Ongoing issue?

The Disney and Sony broke their Spider-Man deal after a profit-sharing dispute. Now with the deal over, Marvel cannot integrate Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The dispute between Sony and Disney will allow Disney to use Spider-Man in their movies and would create a continuity issue.

This created havoc among the fans, and most of the fans want Sony to give back Spider-Man. Surprisingly, Joan Lee is on the side of Sony, and her side of the story makes a lot of sense too.

As a fan, I hope that Disney and Sony solve the issue and get a good deal again. It would be a significant loss for both studios, and we expect them to find a way out.
