Spy x Family Anime Adaptation Announced, Slated for 2022

Spy x Family is a bi-monthly manga that recently surfaced via the Shonen Jump magazine. The manga has compiled a total of 4 volumes so far and with its recent popularity it has been picked up for an anime adaptation.

@YonkouProd, an unofficial yet reliable source of anime news, tweeted the announcement for Spy x Family’s anime yesterday. Since the announcement is not official yet, other details are not available.

Spy x Family’s story follows a family formed by Twilight, a spy, to get closer to a very important target. This family looks like any other from the surface, but that is definitely not the case.

Production of an anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Endo Tatsuya, “Spy x Family” was confirmed. The series will premiere in 2022 and production details are yet to be revealed.

This manga has serialized 27 chapters, collected in 4 volumes till date. With the release of its second volume, Spy × Family had 800,000 copies in circulation, counting digital and physical sales.

The 2020 edition of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook named Spy × Family the best manga series for male readers. It also came in first on Honya Club’s Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2020 list.

Spy × Family was nominated for the 13th Manga Taishō, where it came second and the 44th Kodansha Manga Award. It is currently nominated for the 24th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize. No wonder the mange is getting adapted!
