Filming for the third installment of the Spiderman reboot series began in October 2020, and has been going smoothly so far. The currently untitled film is expected to release by December 2021 with Tom Holland returning in the titular role.
Marvel and Sony Pictures have successfully managed to keep the film’s details a secret, and little to nothing is known about the film.
However, on the afternoon of January 16, Tom Holland was spotted leaping from car to car in his Spiderman suit that went through a very minor design change.
The pictures were published by Just Jared, which showcased Tom Holland in his new Spiderman suit.
The design difference is almost negligible, with only a patch of black missing from the red waistline separating the black portions of the suit. The difference is so minor that many of the audience (who do not watch the film with X-ray eyes) might miss it without any explicit mention in the film.
Usually, a costume change move is beneficial for selling merchandise and toys, but I do not think that a change this small should be considered a design upgrade.
Besides Tom in his Spidey suit, Just Jared also published pictures of him bundled in a blanket and wearing a mask as he is checking the filmed footage. The pictures also spotted Tom’s younger brother, Harry Holland, on the sets, indicating that he might have a role in the film too.
Spiderman 3 (2021) will also feature Doctor Strange (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), Doc Ock (played by Alfred Molina), and Electro (played by Jamie Foxx), but no set pictures of them are revealed yet.
There have also been reports of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man in the film (which, honestly, is quite confusing to me. I’m indeed curious about their involvement in the film)
Anyways, if the production keeps progressing at the current rate, the film could make it to theatres by December 2021. And if that happens, more details about the film are bound to surface sooner rather than later.
