Sorcerous Stabber Orphen Reveals S3 Cast And Jan 18 Debut

On December 7, the staff for the anime adaptation of  Yoshinobu Akita‘s Sorcerous Stabber Orphen (Majutsushi Orphen Haguretabi) light novel series released the full promotional video and main visual for the third season.

The promotional video unveiled more cast members and the January 18 premiere date.

The video also previews the opening theme song “Hysteric Caravan,” which will be performed by Orphen’s voice actor Showtaro Morikubo. The ending theme song “Fantastic Partner,” will be performed by Dortin’s voice actor Mai Fuchigami.

The third season will premiere on the AT-X channel, Tokyo MX, WOWOW, and BS Fuji, along with various streaming services in Japan. Crunchyroll will stream the season as it airs.

The new cast members for this season include Daisuke Ono as Ed, Shiki Aoki as Lottecia, Junya Enoki as Ryan, and Takuya Eguchi as Halpert. The guest cast members are Kana Hanazawa as Eris and Mariya Ise as Shiina.

Takayuki Hamana is returning as series director at Studio DEEN,  Kenji Konuta is replacing Reiko Yoshida as series composer. Yoko Kikuchi and Rio are returning from the second season as the character designers. The CG director is Shinsuke Ōshima and music composition is being handled by Shinnosuke.

The novels the anime is based on are licensed by J-Novel Club, who released them digitally. The story as described by J-Novel Club is:

“Orphen is a Sorcerer drop-out from the prestigious Tower of Fangs.

His journey to save Azalie, a girl he looked up to like a sister, has brought him to the bustling city of Totokanta. Here they are reunited for the first time in five years.

But what is the truth behind her monstrous transformation, and just what secrets lurk behind the Sword of Baldanders…?”

The light novel series began publishing in 1994 with illustrations by Yuya Kusaka. The new anime is commemorating the novel series’ 25th anniversary.

Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is a Japanese light novel series written by Yoshinobu Akita and illustrated by Yuuya Kusaka.

The novel inspired a manga and various anime adaptations. The series also paved a way for a video game exclusively for PlayStation in 2000.

A remake of this anime is released in 2020 as part of the franchise’s 25th-anniversary celebration.

It is the story of a boy, Krylancelo Finrandi, on his quest to save his foster sister, who turned into a dragon when an experiment to gain magical powers went wrong.
