Showrunner Exits NBC’s Law And Order Spin-Off, Premiere Delayed

The new spin-off of the long-running Law And Order franchise, which is supposed to bring Elliot Stabler back to the screens, is undergoing a change in its production team. Matt Olmstead, who was supposed to helm Law And Order: Organized Crime, has left the show. The authorities behind the show have not announced a replacement for him yet.

Fans of the Dick Wolf-created franchise were beyond thrilled when they had got to know that a new spin-off would bring back Christopher Meloni’s beloved detective Elliot Stabler to the New York crime scene. Meloni previously starred in the majorly successful Law And Order: Special Victims Unit as Elliot Stabler, for twelve seasons.

In that show, he investigated crimes of sexual nature while trying not to let the gory crimes affect his own life. At the end of the twelfth season, he retired from his position in the police force.

The show has not been the same since his exit. Law And Order: SVU is currently in its 22nd season.

There is some more disappointing news for those who are waiting for Elliot Stabler’s return on Organized Crime. Not only is the showrunner leaving, but the release of the series has also been pushed back. NBC has announced that it wants to incorporate the controversial role of the police in George Floyd’s death and the ramifications of it.

This delay will result in Organized Crime being omitted from NBC’s 2020 fall lineup. Instead, the show will likely premiere in the early half of 2021.

If you have never watched Law And Order: SVU and want to start now, or if you simply want to catch up on Elliot Stabler’s investigations, the show is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Hulu and Peacock.
