Shoot! Manga: New Spinoff with Gon Nakayama as Protagonist

Shoot! is a soccer-themed manga which was serialized from 1990-2003 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine. It is written and illustrated by Tsukasa Ooshima. It also won the Kodansha Manga Awards in the Shonen category.

Shoot! the manga will release a spinoff manga of the isekai genre called That Time Gon Nakayama Got Reincarnated in the world of Shoot! The spinoff will portray the story of famous soccer player Masashi Nakayama getting reincarnated in the world of Shoot!

A promotional video for the manga was released on Youtube by Shonen Magazine.

Gon Nakayama introduces himself in the video and his reactions on reading the first volume of Shoot! is recorded, and he is amazed by the accuracy of the manga. The video then proceeds to show that Nakayama will be added to the storyline.

The title of the spinoff is a parody of the famous light novel and anime series, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime.

Masashi Nakayama, better known as Gon Nakayama, is a Japanese footballer who played as a forward. He has played for the teams of Júbilo Iwata, Consadole Sapporo, and Azul Claro Numazu.

He is well-known for his playful, outgoing nature and sense of humor. This sense of humor is exactly what makes the legend a perfect match to portray in the manga.

Every match in the spinoff manga is supervised and sometimes planned out by Gon Nakayama himself. So, we can expect some pretty realistic games as well as some skills that Nakayama might have used in his matches. Even if it is an isekai manga, the manga is illustrated, keeping in mind professional advice.
