Shaman King 2021 is an upcoming reboot of the original 2001 anime of the same name.

Even before the reboot was announced, the series was considered a hidden gem of the Shonen genre due to its relentless charm without flashy action scenes.

Shaman King takes place in a land where extraordinary people called Shamans can communicate with spirits and serve as a link to other worlds.

1. Release Date

Shaman King Reboot will release on April 1 this year as a part of the Spring 2021 anime lineup. The anime would be available on Netflix only, and other streaming sites such as Amazon and Hulu will receive a late broadcast on April 8.

Two promotional videos have also been released. The first PV shows the meeting of Manta and Haha, who came to Tokyo in hopes of becoming the Shaman King. The battle between Ryuunosuke and Lotus is also shown briefly.

The second PV centers on Amisamaru and his fierce battles with his rivals. The PV also introduces “Soul Salvation” as the opening theme, sung by Megumi Hayashibara.

3. About Shaman King

Shaman King is a manga written and illustrated by Hiroyuki Takei. It began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump from June 30, 1998.

The series received an abrupt end on August 30, 2004, leaving fans disappointed.

The manga received a reprint in 2009 to give its fans the true ending to the series. It also received an adaptation by studio Xebec in 2001 that was directed by Seiji Mizushima.

It introduces us to a world of shamans. These Shamans are powerful beings who can see and communicate with spirits, ghosts, and gods.

Once in 500 years, a prestigious tournament called The Shaman Fight is organized, and the winner gets to shape the world in his image with the aid of the great spirits.

The story revolves around Manta Oyamada, who has a chance encounter with You Asakura that completely changes his life. Asakura aims to become the Shaman King, aided by Manta and his 600-year-old samurai friend Amidamaru. They set out to fulfill You’s dream.
