‘Wrath of the Gods’ is something that is being feared even today, and the anime world is no exception. From the Dragon Ball series to The Seven Deadly Sins, we have witnessed gods whom no one would like to displease.
That’s not quite the case for the protagonist of Disciple of the Lich, Kanbara Kanata, who gets on the bad side of the gods immediately after getting transported to an isekai world.
On Friday, Seven Seas Entertainment announced that it has licensed Nekoko and Hihara Yoh’s Disciple of the Lich: Or How I Was Cursed by the Gods and Dropped Into the Abyss! light novel series.
We don’t have to wait too long since the first volume of the series is scheduled to release under its Airship imprint in September 2021.
As a punishment for his ill-behavior, the gods dump him into the bottom of the world’s deepest dungeon with no skills or magic. I think this is different from most of the isekai adventure since it’s more like a life-long imprisonment.
Luckily, he finds a mysterious girl, Lunaère, who agrees to help him out. Thus, their quest to defy the gods begins and they break out from the dungeon.
In my opinion, their situation is somewhat similar to that of Subaru and Emilia from Re:ZERO, and with their powers combined, they will emerge as a formidable duo.
I doubt if she is as cute as Emilia, but she is definitely far superior to her in terms of power. From her character design, we can say that she is a calm and cold character who hardly gets attached to anyone.
A manga adaptation for the light novel series is also on its way, and its first volume will ship on February 25.
Now that the novel series is licensed, more and more people will get to know about it, which further ensures this manga adaptation’s success.
