Samurai 8: Hachimaruden is the latest manga by all-time favorite Masashi Kishimoto-sensei. Hachimaru is on his journey to find other key holders just like Hachi himself and to save the universe.
Chapter 37, titled “Rivals,” of the manga got released recently. It further introduced cat samurai Hanaichi and his pupil along with their connection with dog samurai Daruma.
1. Chapter 38 Release Date
Chapter 38 of Samurai 8: Hachimaruden, titled “Ann, Hachimaru & Goku” will release on February 16th, 2020. Chapter 38 will be about the samurai-princess relationship between Hachimaru & Ann, along with the third wheel – Goku.
2. Chapter 38 Speculation
The last panel of chapter 37 shows Ata destroying various samurai and taking their souls using his keyholder and him saying something about going to Hachi.
The next chapter will most likely begin with the information exchange between the newly formed alliance of Hanaichi and Daruma. This will most likely be followed by Ata’s attack and an epic battle between the two sides.
3. Chapter 38 Raw Scans
Even though Chapter 38 titled Ann, Hachimaru & Goku has not been released yet, we have some raw scans for the same. Quite unexpectedly this chapter is about the intricacies of the samurai-princess relationship, especially between Ann & Hachimaru.
In the scans, you can see Goku trying to explain some things about being a samurai to Hachimaru. He believes a samurai must first be a qualified warrior and a qualified man even before that, unlike Hachimaru who is just “acting his role.”
Goku says this because apparently he has no princess. We saw this in the last chapter as well, that Goku was quite considerate towards Ann. In the next panel, we can see Goku and Hachi fighting each other which resulted in Goku’s win.
This chapter showed a love triangle situation of sorts but in a different way. We say so because the chapter ends with a mysterious confession from Ann which leaves Hachi stunned.

4. Chapter 37 Rivals Plot
Chapter 37 started with the Hachimaru and gang being transported to Hanaichi’s keyholder. As soon as Sen saw Hanaichi, he began attacking him. Hanaichi’s pupil Goku did the same against Sen. However, both of them were stopped by Daruma.
The next few panels show that Hanaichi has not done any big crime, he only belongs to Usumasa syle – the one Kala and Ata belong to. He states that he has severed ties with the Usumasa style since Kala replaced him for Ata.
It is revealed that Hanaichi was the one who fought against Daruma in the first chapter of the manga, and they both have been eternal rivals (like Kakashi and Guy from Naruto). It was Hanaichi only who sealed Daruma into a cat’s body, which in turn, sealed Hanaichi into a body of the dog.
Hanaichi proves his loyalty to Daruma and asks for an alliance to which Daruma complies. YES! The legendary samurai Daruma & Hanaichi, the four keys – Hachimaru, Ryu, Goku, and female samurai, and the strongest officer – Sen the Silent, have formed an alliance.
The final panel shows Ata using a gigantic key holder and destroying a few samurai to collect their souls. He then announces that he is going to revisit Hachimaru and gang. It is going to be one hell of a battle yet again!
