Re: Zero, the popular isekai anime’s second season is releasing on 8th July. The first season had received a great response from fans, and it is finally back after 4 years of wait. So, let’s get on with what exactly is in store for us.
The official website of Re:ZERO anime recently revealed a new promotional video and character introductions.
The website has posted updated character introductions, and we have spotted some new faces in the crowd.
1. Garfiel Tinsel (played by Nobuhiko Okamoto)
Garfiel is just as savage as he looks. With a fierce personality and a characteristic scar on his face, he goes against Subaru but is soon defeated and becomes loyal to Emilia Camp.
2. Ryuzu Birma or Lewis Meyer (played by Aimi Tanaka)
She has a long past with Garfiel and even calls him with nicknames. Although she is quite young, Subaru and the others are puzzled about her behaving like an old man.
3. Echidna (played by Maaya Sakamoto)
Echidna is the Witch of Greed and has been featured in the opening of the anime’s PV. She invited Subaru to mysterious tea time. However, her actual motive might be Subaru’s power of “Return by Death”.
The video also teases the opening theme song of the anime, “Realize” by Konomi Suzuki. The song at first seems soft but then builds up to more emotions and is energetic. It perfectly suits the PV as the characters die quite often and have to be saved by Subaru. The ending theme song, “Memento,” is performed by nonoc.
The release of the upcoming season had already been delayed from April to July due to the ongoing pandemic.
The first season of the anime ended with a director’s cut episode. This episode contained the biggest cliffhanger of Re:ZERO till now – regarding Rem’s death. We hope the next season can answer the questions we have about Rem.
About Re:ZERO
The story follows Subaru Natsuki, a homebody who wakes up in a fantasy world on his way home from the convenience store. Meeting a silver-haired elf named Satella, he decides to help her on her journey to recover a stolen item.
After the two are mysteriously killed, Subaru wakes up to realize that he had gone back to the point when he first entered the world. Realizing he has a new power called “Return by Death,” which sends him back in time every time he dies, Subaru decides to use this new power to try and make a better life for himself in this world with the mysterious silver-haired elf.
