Funimation announced through their blog that they will donate a minimum of a million dollars to various organizations that stand for social justice and racial equality.

They also announced the implementation of an engagement program highlighting the importance of individual action. The program will include every employee of the company through internships, events, and education for young people of color.

The company stated, “For years, anime has connected people of all backgrounds and interests. In our own community, there are fans who live in fear of police brutality and systemic racism, and we can’t ignore that.”

Funimation isn’t alone. The Pokémon Company Group recently tweeted that it will join its partners at Niantic and donate a minimum of 5 million dollars to non-profit organizations worldwide.

It has promised an update regarding the list of organizations soon. The company stated that the money will go towards the education and mentoring of black children and assured their commitment to the black community.

The Pokémon Company Group had also previously announced donations to non-profit organizations. They tweeted their solidarity with their Black employees, fans, and families who remain impacted by systemic racism.

Furthermore, a donation of 100,000 dollars to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and an additional 100,000 dollars to Black lives matter.

It is the time when collective action is helping challenge racism around that had robbed people of their rights and opportunities for too long.
