On its opening day, the movie sold $16.7 million worth of tickets, and the number kept growing at an alarming pace as days went by.

As of now, One Piece Film Red stands at a whopping $52 million after running for ten days at Japanese theaters. It has even surpassed One Piece Film Z, the 2012 movie which had the highest earnings in the franchise with $51 million, a spectacular amount, given that it was released a decade ago.

The latest movie focused on Shanks’ daughter Uta, and this unexpected storyline drew in a lot of audience. Even Shanks, who is one of the rarest people ever to show his face in the series, is featured.

Eiichiro Oda himself was the executive producer, so the turnout is thrilling but not unexpected.

Crunchyroll will premiere the One Piece Red Film in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this fall, and I bet you can barely hold your excitement. The movie will be streamed with both English dub and Japanese audio with English dub.

The story takes place at the Island of Music, Elegia where the world’s most greatest diva, Uta is holding her first ever live performance. People from all corners of the land and sea come to witness the most famous singer of all time, and Shanks’ alleged daughter, perform live for the first time.
