The adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew in search of the legendary treasure — One Piece, have been serializing chapters for over two decades.

This 900+ chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga for a decade.

One Piece released chapter 983 on Monday, titled “Thunder.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 984.

1. Chapter 984 Speculations/Predictions

Chapter 983 ended with Luffy running into Yamato, who claims to be an ally. There has been a lot of mystery surrounding Kaido’s family.

Since this arc involves a multitude of characters, the chapter probably won’t focus on a single incident. However, it is likely that we will be shown more scenes with Yamato.

I. Momonosuke’s Execution

Momonosuke was captured by Kanjuro and given to Orochi. He is currently about to be executed in the Performance Floor of Onigashima’s Skull Dome. Nami and her group are already on the way, and it is likely that others will find their way to the location as well.

II. Yamato

Yamato’s character was seen for the first time in this chapter. He claims to be Luffy’s ally and he says that he has waited for Luffy “all this time”. It will be very exciting to see what Oda has in store for us when it comes to Kaido’s family.

III. Kaido’s Big Announcement

During chapter 980, Kaido’s assistant, a Flying Squirrel smile user, reminded Kaido of an important announcement he needs to make. Kaido says that everyone needs to wait before he announces it otherwise people will get confused.

Shortly before the Reverie arc, Oda mentioned a “Lurking Legend” in an interview. While he may have been talking about Emu-sama, it is possible that he meant Rox, the captain of the Rox pirates.

With Kaido and Big Mom’s new alliance the announcement likely has something to do with Rox and the return of the Rox pirates. In my opinion, nothing except the return of their former captain can bring these two Yonko together.

2. Chapter 984 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers

Raw scans for chapter 984 of One Piece came out recently. The upcoming chapter will reveal Yamato’s identity and “his” intentions.

Yamato is revealed to be Kaido’s daughter, who was present during Oden’s public execution. Inspired by Oden’s gallant sacrifice, and led by Oden’s logbook (which she found in the ruins of Kuri), she has taken on Oden’s dream to re-open Wano’s borders.

We also see that Page One and Ulti have recovered after their brawl with Luffy. Back at the performance floor, the samurai have successfully infiltrated the area where Momonosuke is about to be executed.

Nekomamushi, Izo & Marco reach the backside of Onigashima alongside Law’s group. The Red Scabbards have assembled to take revenge on Kaido’s tyrannical rule.
The scans also reveal that One Piece is on break next week.

The chapter starts with Perospero climbing up Wano’s waterfall. He is riding to Onigashima on a candy seaslug, and has set his eyes on taking down King, Marco and Luffy.

We then see Usopp & Chopper, who are thankfully alive. Big Mom was called by Prometheus and is currently chasing behind Nami’s group.

Zoro & Kid are still busy fighting the Gifters and have their hands full.

The rest of the chapter shows Luffy’s fight with Ulti and Page One. Ulti reveals her devil fruit to be a Dragon Dragon Fruit: Ancient Model – Pachycephalosaurus. She goes off against Luffy alongside her brother. However, the fight is cut short when Yamato enters and knocks Ulti out with his Thunder Bagua.

He claims to be an ally and tells Luffy about how he’s been waiting for him “this entire time.”

7. Chapter 983 Cover Page

Apart from the main storyline in the manga chapters, One Piece also advances the storyline by featuring scenes around the world in the form of cover stories.

Chapter 983’s cover continues the Gang Bege’s OH MY FAMILY cover story. It shows Lola, Gotti, Capone and Chiffon running into their father at Dressrosa’s port.

8. About One Piece

One Piece is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine since July 22, 1997, and has been collected into 96 tankōbon volumes.

The man who had acquired everything in this world, the Pirate King, is Gol D. Roger.

The final words he said at the execution tower were “My treasures? If you want it, I’ll let you have it. Look for it; I left all of it at that place.”

These words sent many to the seas, chasing their dreams, headed toward the Grand Line, in search of One Piece. Thus began a new age!

Seeking to be the greatest pirate in the world, young Monkey D. Luffy also heads toward the Grand Line in search of One Piece. With his diverse crew joining him along the way, consisting of a swordsman, marksman, navigator, cook, doctor, archaeologist, and cyborg-shipwright, this will be one memorable adventure.
