The Grand Line is the most dangerous place in the One Piece world, often dubbed as “Pirates’ Graveyard.” However, the first half of the Grand Line pales in comparison to the second half, called “The New World.”
To survive in such a tense environment, pirates have two options — either band together with other pirates of their level, or to work under one of the four emperors of the sea.
One such pirate alliance was of the crews of Kid, Apoo, and Hawkins, with their goal set on taking down “Red Hair” Shanks.
However, the world of piracy is not so straightforward as it turned out that Apoo betrayed the alliance and joined Kaido’s crew by giving up Kid and Hawkins to the Yonko.
Raw scans of chapter 980 of One Piece were recently released. The chapter finally kicks off the fight between Kid and Apoo, which fans have been waiting for since they found out about the betrayal.

Kaido dropped from an unnamed sky island in chapter 795, titled “Suicide,” to an island which “happened to be” the place where Kid, Apoo, and Hawkins had set up their base.
Hawkins surrendered and joined Kaido’s crew, Apoo turned out to be the mole who informed Kaido of their location, but Kid did not give up. He fought the Yonko on his own and was ultimately smashed and kept like a dog in Udon’s Prison.
Kaido refused to kill him as he does not believe in wasting the talents of the strong and prefers to break their spirit to make them join his crew. Eventually, Kid escaped the prison, became a part of the rebellion alliance, and is now on Onigashima looking for revenge against Apoo and Kaido.

The chapter starts with Luffy blowing his cover by launching a giant Elephant Gun. He is detected by Apoo, who, in turn, informs Queen. Queen offers a spot in the Tobi Roppo to whoever can capture Luffy, and the crowd goes wild, trying to take him down.
Zoro comes there to stop Luffy but ends up helping him out. The duo gets caught up in Apoo’s attacks, which even Zoro is unable to detect and block.
This is when Kid comes in and yells, “It’s all his fault. THAT BACK-STABBER. Go to hell, Apoo.” He then hits him with the full force of his Punk Gibson.

Personally, I had been waiting for Apoo to get beaten up justly since the betrayal was revealed, and it felt so good to see Kid finally punching the life out of Apoo.
