Post-Apocalyptic Manga ‘Heavenly Illusion’ to Receive Anime in 2023

Heavenly Delusion is similar to The Promised Neverland, except for the horrifying monsters. Instead, Heavenly Delusion goes with a much more believable concept of having an apocalyptic world outside the walls of a sanctuary.

You will find Maru and Kiruko, two teenagers, navigating through this wasteland, trying to salvage food. They claim to be on a search for “heaven,” not the afterlife one, but rather a place on Earth. This mysterious search is what makes the manga so appealing to readers.

Heavenly Illusion is a unique manga by Masakazu Ishiguro. Studio Production I.G. has picked up the series to adapt it into an anime that will come out in 2023.

A new visual is out showing Maru and Miruko with an ominous eye staring down at them:

The series starts with an eerie atmosphere as kids are shown in a school that is barricaded from the outside world. The kids don’t know what is outside except that it is hell.

Next, Maru and Kiruko will appear as they ravage old and abandoned houses for food. A great calamity killed everyone, and only a lucky few survived, although it will take time to know what exactly happened and how these two are still alive and unscathed.

Production I.G. has not revealed many details about the upcoming anime, and the release date is yet to be confirmed. Staff and cast members, as well as trailers, will most probably be released within a month or more.

Nonetheless, Heavenly Delusion is an anime worth looking forward to. Teenagers surviving the apocalypse might not be a revolutionary idea, but how brilliantly the plot has been executed counts.

About Heavenly Delusion

Heavenly Delusion is a manga series by Masakazu Ishiguro. It was launched in Kodansha’s Afternoon magazine in January 2018. Studio Production I.G. has confirmed its anime adaptation.

The series shows a school where kids are raised by robots and are walled in from what they think is “hell.” The outside world has gone though a calamity and has super-natural beings.

On the other hand, two teenagers can also be seen wandering around in this wasteland trying to find “heaven” on Earth.
