Anime Cowboy Bepop Live-Action News

Netflix Once Again Entices Us with Cowboy Bebop Live Series Set for Fall!

Cowboy Bebop is one of the few stories in the world that genuinely feel timeless. A story told in the 90s about the 2070s is somehow more relatable in the 2020s.

With spunky hairdos, bizarre clothing choices, and a world that is a character in itself, Bebop and its crew cruise from place to place to get their next crack. It is no surprise that Netflix announced that it would make a live-action adaptation with such a captivating story.

Netflix announced that Yoko Kanno, the composer of the 1998 Cowboy Bebop anime theme song ’Tank!,’ will be working on the live adaptation as well.

Netflix also announced that the Cowboy Bebop live adaptation would be airing on the streaming platform later this fall 2021!

The music by Yoko Kanno is considered one of the best in anime so far. With the primary focus on Jazz, the music fits right into the 80s western theme of the show.

Additionally, having the original team behind the anime show is also a big plus. The previous Netflix attempt on anime live adaptation, such as Death Note, has been met with criticism.

Netflix has also revealed most of the cast of the Bebop except for Edward “Radical Ed” Wong IV, who is confirmed to be a recurring character in the live series.

In an interview, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, the writer of the adaptation, stated that production would stay loyal to the essence and style of the anime.

The anime follows two bounty hunters, also known as Cowboys: Spike Spiegel, and Jet Black. The duo hunts bounties and collects rewards as the source of income. However, it seems like they are perpetually broke.

Onboard the Bebop crew, we also have a highly intelligent corgi named “En,” who acts like moderately intelligent Corgi, femme fatale Faye Valentine, and the computer whiz kid Edward Wong.

Each episode delves into exciting adventures that let us learn more about their dark and mysterious past as the plot moves forward.

Netflix shut down the production of the series in 2019 after the lead cast, John Cho, developed a knee injury and then again in 2020 with COVID-19.

However, it seems like the wait is finally over as the series is set to hit Netflix in the fall. Though the exact date is not revealed yet, we are sure that Bebop will be in 2021!

With only a few months more left to go, this is the perfect time to catch up to the Cowboy Bebop anime saga, which is available on Netflix as well.

So don’t miss out on the live series!

About Cowboy Bebop

Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese animated science-fiction television series animated by Sunrise. The series premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo from April 3 until June 26, 1998, broadcasting only twelve episodes and a special due to its controversial adult-themed content.

Set in the year 2071, roughly 50 years following a calamity (that’s nearly 2020!) that makes Earth uninhabitable, the series follows 5 of a crew of bounty hunters.

With humans scattered across Earth’s immediate cosmos, Inter Solar System Police hires the likes of this crew to help hunt criminals. For the right price, these rag tags will even save the world if need be.
