The Seven Deadly Sins anime ended this year in June with the Demon King’s defeat and peace restored in the world. The ill-fated lovers, Meliodas and Elizabeth, are finally free of their millennia-long curse and living happily with their son, Tristan.

While joyful times are back in the Seven Deadly Sins universe, you never know what may happen next. Being the son of a demon and a goddess, destiny has special plans for Tristan.

Netflix announced a new two-part anime film series titled, Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh during its Netflix Festival Japan 2021. The movie series featuring Meliodas and Elizabeth’s son Tristan as the protagonist will be coming out in 2022.

The teaser shows two giant-like entities in the middle of an abandoned ground as Tristan lands at a distance from them with two swords in his hand. The video displays that the film is a brand new original story from the series’ creator, Nakaba Suzuki.

Netflix has announced that it will be streaming both parts of the anime film worldwide in 2022. The platform will also be providing subtitles in various languages and dubbed versions too.

Coming back to the teaser, it shows us the prodigal son of the demon and the goddess as much older than in the anime. During the last episode of the show’s fifth season, Tristan turns 10-years-old and is under the false assumption that his father and the other Sins are villains instead of heroes.

After his doubts are cleared and he’s told about their heroic feats, Tristan vows to become a mighty Holy Knight just like his father, Meliodas.

The movie might show us a time skip where Tristan is older and stronger due to training from the other knights and the Sins. Moreover, we’ll get to know more about his powers and what hidden abilities he has.

The teaser also shows a fearsome new enemy, and to fight that foe, Tristan will need backup. I am excited to see what new characters the film will introduce.

Let’s not forget Ban and Elaine’s son Lancelot who might play a significant role in this upcoming film. Lancelot is almost the same age as Tristan and will most likely become his rival and trustworthy ally.

While we’re on the topic of the next generation, the children of the other characters might also join Tristan in his quest, giving us a brand new set of protagonists to stan.

Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming film too.
