Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari TV Anime to Premiere in January 2023

Onigunsou’s Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari manga will receive its TV anime adaptation in January 2023, as confirmed by the 49th Issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine.

The anime’s official website has released a new character preview trailer.

Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari is one of the year’s most anticipated supernatural action anime adaptations. The manga first announced the anime adaptation in November 2021, creating excitement among fans.

The Bandai Namco Pictures production will be directed by Ryuichi Kimura, with Takahiro Okawa as the assistant director. The series composition will be handled by Keiichiro Ochi. J-pop artist John Kanda will handle the music composition for the show along with XELIK, and Shiori Fujisawa will serve as the new character designer.

The plot of Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari is set in a world where spirits are able to cross into the human world and possess objects, allowing the spirits to obtain a physical form.

The series centers Hyouma Kunato, as he struggles to deal with these spirits and is filled with unbridled rage as a result of handling the spirits.

Afraid of the consequences of Hyouma’s anger, his grandfather sends him to live with an unusual young woman, Botan Nagatsuki. Whether or not Hyouma will be able to control his rage is yet to be seen.

Onigunsou’s manga originally launched in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Miracle Jump on April 15, 2014, and was published under the Young Jump Comics label.

The manga was later published by Ultra Jump magazine on January 19, 2016, which has since released 14 tankouban volumes in total as of May 2022.

The manga is still running and has been licensed for release in the west by Seven Seas Entertainment.

An exact date for the anime’s release has not yet been revealed.

Malevolent Spirits: Mononogatari is a television anime produced by Bandai Namco Pictures. The anime is based on Onigunsou’s manga series launched in April 2014 in Miracle Jump magazine. It later transferred to Ultra Jump and currently has 15 volumes.

The manga’s plot takes place in a world where spirits are able to cross into the human world and possess objects, also known as Tsukumogami.

The series focuses on Hyouma Kunato, who refuses to use peaceful methods to seal the spirits. His grandfather suggests him to live with Botan, whose family includes six spirits. Hyouma must overcome his anger to avoid being excommunicated.
