Makoto Shinkai- New Film Got Help From Your Name’s Success

Makoto Shikai is a Japanese filmmaker, animator and manga artist. In 2016-2017 he directed the immensely successful anime movie ‘Your Name’. Shinkai reached a new level of critical and commercial popularity with the release of ‘Your Name’. Yesterday, his new film Tenki No Ko released in Japan. Makoto Shinkai says that the success of Kimi No Nawa– (Your Name) helped this movie see the light of day.


Shinkai, in a recent interview also talks about how the success of Your Name brought Tenki No Ko to new audiences, and thus is seeing more exposure than any of his work before. The fact of the matter is that initially, Shinkai hesitated when putting Weathering With You( Tenki No Ko) together. Makoto Shinkai didn’t want to make this film because he wasn’t sure that he wouldn’t get heavily criticized for his last work as he did after Your Name. But eventually, Shinkai directed this movie.

TENKI NO KO– Weathering With You Plot

In the middle of his first year at secondary school, Hokoda runs away from his remote island home to Tokyo. He rapidly ends up pushed to his financial and individual break down. The climate is strangely gloomy and stormy consistently, as though to predict his future. He lives his days in detachment. However, he finds a job as a writer at a magazine company where magic seems to be at play. On the day of his joining, Hokoda meets Hina on the corner of a busy street. This bright and strong­ willed young lady has an unusual but awesome superpower: the ability to stop the rain and clear the sky.
