Not only is Hulu your official go-to for the best book adaptations, it is so for the biggest stars of Hollywood too.
Liane Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers is coming to Hulu as a series soon and in addition to Nicole Kidman and Melissa McCarthy, the latest name in the cast is Luke Evans.
Best known for playing Bard the Bowman in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit trilogy, Luke Evans will be playing Lars, one of the nine perfect strangers in the series.
He has also played a couple of memorable roles in Beauty and the Beast and Terminator Ep.
Another star on the list
Evans is the latest member of the star-studded cast of the adaptation. In fact, the book is said to be associated with Kidman even before it was written.
According to Moriarty, she introduced Kidman to the idea of Pasha, the owner of a retreat spa, just as a character in her head.
Kidman was instantly fascinated and urged Moriarty to write the book so it could be turned into a series later on.
Kidman is also the producer of the book in addition to playing the character which so caught her imagination and led to the birth of the book in the first place.
A year after the book’s release in 2018, Hulu announced an official series and Melissa McCarthy was added to the cast as one of the retreat customers Frances.
Frances Welty, a former author, arrives at Tranquillum House in order to nurse the wounds of a bad breakup, and becomes transfixed by the wellness retreat’s mysterious host, Masha.
If you haven’t read the book already, here’s a quick recap of the book plot. Moriarty’s Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine stressed-out strangers as they embark on a journey of wellness at Tranquillum House, a remote health retreat.
Each person has their own unique reasons to be at the Tranquillum House, from losing weight to getting over a heartbreak.
The guests are encouraged to make important changes to their lives and instructed to give up some of their worldly favorites — like caffeine, sugar, and technology.
All this in order for them to stay put on the path of healing, under the direction of Tranquillum House’s charismatic Russian leader Masha.
