Jujutsu Kaisen is a Winter 2021 anime series that started airing in October 2020. Season 1 concluded its run this March, flashing a “to be continued” after the finale. Needless to say, this won’t be the last time we encounter Itadori and his friends!
The upcoming season of Jujutsu Kaisen is going to set the internet on fire. Since the debut of Jujutsu Kaisen in 2018, fans have been anticipating the release of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, which is currently in development and will be released in 2023.
Jujutsu Kaisen was officially renewed for season 2 by Studio MAPPA on February 12th, 2022, during a special production event in Japan. The announcement overjoys fans throughout the world as Mappa has delivered some of the best fights that have hyped us all.
Also, the first key visuals have been released by the official page of Jujutsu Kaisen, which gives a small idea of what the upcoming season might have to offer.
1. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2: Renewal and Release Date
Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 is scheduled to be released in 2023. The franchise has not yet announced an episode list, but we may expect 24 to 25 episodes as the second season adapts chapters 79 to 136, and you can catch the upcoming season on Crunchyroll.
2. Key Visuals
As of now, the official page of Jujutsu Kaisen has released one key visual.
While the single visual is revealed, for the time being, we could gain a sense of what the next season may have in store for us. Because the image is divided into two halves, we may see more of Gojo’s past and ties with Getou, and we might get a fight sequence between them.
As of now, there are no trailers or teasers that have been released, but it might be closer than we expect.
4. New Characters
Here are some of the new characters we will see in the upcoming season:
I. Toji Fushiguro
Toji Fushiguro, originally Toji Zenin, is the main antagonist in Gojo’s Past. He will almost certainly feature in season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen. His fight against Gojo is guaranteed to be one of the highlights of the upcoming season’s first half.
II. Riko Amanai
Riko is an outspoken and feisty young woman who appeared to steadfastly believe in her role as the Star Plasma Vessel.
5. Plot and What to Expect from the New Season?
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will continue with Itadori’s quest to find and consume Sakuna’s 20 cursed fingers. But before that happens, we may get to see Gojo Satoru first and his past!
Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will also adapt to the Shibuya Incident (chapters 79-136). Don’t worry, we’re not going into the spoiler zone here, but the Shibuya Incident Arc focuses entirely on a scheme to shut away Geto, driven by Gojo and his new cursed alliance.
