Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie’s new trailer is bound to leave you awestruck for several moments before you snap back to reality. The franchise’s overwhelming hype and popularity set the standard high, and as we all know, MAPPA always delivers more than expected.
The movie packs loads of action and answers to various mysteries from the anime’s first season. Yuta Okkotsu’s character will be making his anime debut as the film’s protagonist, whose powers have been shrouded in mystery until now.
Being a manga fan, I am pretty familiar with who Yuta is, but anime-only watchers need to brace themselves for a new favorite character. But before we get into that, let’s look at this exciting new trailer by the franchise.
Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie revealed a hair-raising new trailer previewing the theme song, ‘Itto’ (The Only Way) by King Gnu. The film will premiere on December 24, 2021.
This two-minute trailer has more action from Geto and Gojo than the entire season 1, so yes, the film will have you at the edge of your seat.
It starts with Geto announcing that he will unleash 100 demons at night and challenges the sorcerers to stop him if they do not want the world to become a living hell. After this, we’re introduced to Yuta and the special grade curse, Rika Orimoto.
Yuta and Rika were childhood sweethearts who promised to marry each other when they grew up. One day Rika died in a terrible car accident that traumatized Yuta enough for him to curse her spirit unintentionally.
This incident led to Rika’s spirit becoming the ‘Queen of Curses,’ a special grade spirit with endless amounts of curse power.
We then see some of the familiar faces of Jujutsu Tech along with some action sequences we can’t get over. I can only imagine how we’ll keep our calm during the film.
Moreover, the trailer draws parallels between Yuta and Yuji along the way. Both of them were detained at Jujutsu Tech for harboring a strong cursed spirit and being dangerous.
In the scene where Maki questions Yuta about why he came to Jujutsu Tech, he answers that he doesn’t want to hurt more people, much like Yuji. Yuta also mentions how he wants to be needed by someone and be important to them.
Having lost all of his family, Yuji found a new home with the sorcerers who accepted him wholeheartedly. This is similar to how Yuta also started living for his found family in Jujutsu Tech.
At the end of his short yet moving resolution, Yuta mentions that he came to the school primarily to solve Rika’s curse. Technically, Yuji also joined the institution because of Sukuna and to destroy the King of Curses.
We obviously cannot forget to mention the excellent visuals the trailer served us, and I don’t think I am ready to take on the movie’s impact. I mean, did you see how fierce and scary Panda and Toge looked in their fight with Geto?!
For a change, even our Gojo-sensei looked serious during his fight, which was surprising. So, expect the unexpected from this film.
