The creator of Kingdom has often followed history pretty accurately. With the political war ongoing, we are left wondering whether it will spell the end of Zhou’s king Tou Jou since historically, he died during this time.
With new spoilers released from chapter 644, our questions are answered.
1. Quick Answer
A spoiler from the yet to release chapter 644 showed Tou Jou lying dead. He was bleeding from all of his orifices and was covered in blackish veins.
This suggests that there is a high chance that he died from poisoning. The creator of this series followed history pretty accurately as the king of Zhou died in 236 BCE.
After Tou Jou’s death, Zhao would appoint a new king, albeit not prince Jia, but the righteous one shown in the manga. This would stabilize the country and ruin Qin’s chance of finishing off Kantan. Qin and Zhao would end up in a standoff, with the Qin army eventually turning their gaze toward Han.
2. Who is Tou Jou?
King Tou Jou is the current king of the State of Zhao and the lord of Kantan. He possesses a twisted personality and vehemently hates being rebuked by those he considers beneath him.
He detested Ren Pa of the previous Three Great Heavens from the bottom of his heart for always admonishing him during his days as a prince.
In his first full appearance, he is highly narcissistic and confident in the face of the news from Ri Boku of Qin’s invasion, with more attention focused on his pool than on the state of his nation’s borders being invaded.
3. Is Tou Jou dead in the manga?
A spoiler from the yet to release chapter 644 showed Tou Jou lying dead covered in blood. Even if we look at things historically, the Zhao king dies at 236 BCE.
I. How did Tou Jou die?
Tou Jou is found lying dead in the released spoilers of chapter 644. He is shown to be bleeding from all of his orifices, and there are blackish veins visible all over his body.

There have been no clues about the one behind Tou jou’s death. Stay tuned, and we will update this section as soon as more spoilers are released.
4. Who will be the next king?
If we look purely at the historical events, the Prince that Riboku supported is Prince Jia. However, Zhao’s new king after Tou Jou’s death was prince Jia’s younger brother, aka the righteous one.
This new king was pissed that Riboku supported his brother instead of him, so he never trusted Riboku and got fooled by Qin into killing him.
Since the creator of this series follows history, there is a high probability that events will go the same way.
