The first episode only reveals a few characters but that was enough to leave us with some memorable moments and a sense of excitement for what’s to come.

I. Plot

The main storyline is based on a Demon King who was a worshipped tyrant and wiped out many Gods and men alike over the years. He was reincarnated 2000 years later.

This brings us up to speed to where the story takes place- Anos arrives at the academy and is disappointed to see that his descendants’ magic power seems to be very feeble and inexperienced.

Throughout the first episode, he exhibits his unparalleled powers which give us, the viewers, undeniable proof that he is indeed the reincarnation of the great Demon King.

II. Characters

The Demon King Anos Voldigord is introduced to us as a man who eradicated the entire human race, burned down the spirit forest, and even destroyed the gods.

The main protagonist, Anos is a reincarnated demon king who existed 2000 years prior to the start of the series. He shows characteristics of being calm, ruthless, powerful and filled to the brim with confidence.

The Academy believed that the Demon King would be reborn among the nobles of the realm also known as “The Members of the Generation of Chaos”, but instead he was born into a family of commoners. This is why the main character is labeled a misfit.

This made people feel that he was not the reincarnated great dictatorial tyrant that he claimed to be. Anos Voldigord’s strength can be seen throughout the episode with the display of his strength in the Entrance Exam.

He effortlessly wins his fight against Zepes, who is of royal blood and continuously brings his opponent back to life with a never before encountered resurrection spell – something he calls the 3-second rule.

Misha Necron is another character that is given a good amount of screen time along with Anos in the first episode. She is the only one as of now, who seems to be on his side and whom he accepts as a comrade.

When Anos uses teleportation magic to take Misha to his house, there is another indication as to how strong he really is because through Misha we learn that teleportation magic was lost during the mythical ages.

Towards the end of the episode, Demon Lord Leorg confronts Anos. After the incident involving his brother Zepes earlier in the episode, he’s out for revenge and determined to put Anos in his place.

In the face-off between the two, we bear witness to Anos’ demon magic as he ends the fight in a matter of minutes.

III. Setting

The main focus is on The Demon King Academy environment which aims to find the Demon King’s reincarnate among its students.

An unknown character also mentions how “The Infernal Realm will surely be enveloped by tears of joy” when the Demon King is reincarnated.

IV. Theme Songs

Keiji Inai composed the show’s opening theme song “Seikai Fusaikai” while “Hamidashimono” sung by Tomori Kusunoki will be the ending song for The Misfit of Demon King Academy.
