Is Norman Dead or Alive? Did He Really Die?

The Promised Neverland is a highly anticipated anime of 2020, and one cannot forget how this seemingly cheerful anime unravelled the menacing evil lying underneath.

The feelings of intrigue and unsettlement had seeped into our bones. One of the most burning questions that the anime seared into our brain was: Is Norman Really Dead?

Rejoice! Norman does not die. It is revealed in the manga that Norman is alive and plays a huge role in the human resistance against demons. He was handed over to a scientist, named Peter, by Mama Isabella to aid him in his research.

What happened to Norman?

The anime provides a gut-wrenching “end” to one of the major characters Norman in season one.

But it is unlike any other ends that the kids of the orphanage have met — at the hands of a demon.

The anime cleverly holds back the hard evidence of Norman’s death but instead shows us the strange circumstances surrounding his send-off.

Instead of being locked in and devoured by a demon, he is sent into a room by Sister Isabella and asked to wait.

According to the frame, Norman enters a brightly lit room, and his expression is masked by confusion even though he has accepted his fate.

Later in the manga, it is revealed that Isabella had handed Norman to Peter Ratri, a research scientist who asked Norman to aid him.

Norman agrees to save his life and is sent to a research facility Lambda 7214 where their goal is an experiment on children to mass-produce premium meat for the demons.

Norman is forced to live in the facility with high levels of security with constant monitoring and is lead to believe that he is the only cattle child there.

His thought process would always spiral towards the kids he left behind, and he decides to escape the facility to create a space for these kids to escape to.

Norman picks up the works of William Minerva and leads the human resistance against the system by building a group of escaped children.

Allegedly, the experiments at the farm made him look older, and he takes advantage of this fact to meddle with the demon politics.

Norman begins to manipulate the demon clans who fight for the throne to make them weaker in unison. He hopes to rid the demons from the world to build a safe haven for his kind.

The Promised Neverland – Reached?

The answer is YES.

In chapter 175 of the manga, the three children of Grace Field House — Norman, Emma, and Ray, reach their “Promised Neverland” at long last.

Leuvis crowned Mujika as the new Demon Queen, and with a peaceful demon on the throne, it looks like the orphans have found their promised Neverland after all.
