Dr. Glenn Litbeit

Dr. Glenn Litbeit, a human, specializes in treating monsters with his lamia assistant Saphentite “Sapphee” Neikes. In the first episode, we see him conducting an examination on a female minotaur which then reveals her pregnancy.

Glenn is asked by his mentor Dr. Cthulhy, a Scylla, to conduct physical exams on fighters over at the arena. One of the fighters is Tisalia Scythia, a centaur who is the sole heir of Scythia Transportation.

During the examination, Tisalia reveals that she had not won a battle in over a month, but after conducting his examination, Glenn finds nothing medically wrong with her. After speaking to the fighter for some time, the doctor finally figures out the reason she kept losing her battles.

Tisalia had believed that her body was already perfect and that meant she never invested in steel shoes and her hooves had worn out unevenly, making her unbalanced.

Despite her protests, Glenn has new shoes fitted for her and she starts winning battles again. The doctor wonders if his boss was testing how he would deal with a difficult patient by making him examine Ms.Scythia.

The storyline of Monster Girl Doctor is pretty much the only thing that will grab your attention. In terms of animation and design, there is nothing extraordinary going on.

It blends some CGI elements with a pretty standard 2D style. The music used in the series blends into the background enough that it’s not noteworthy, though props should be given to some very pleasant progressions here and there.

3. Is It Worth Watching?

The Monster Girl Doctor is worth checking out if you’re into monster girl or ecchi anime. The story has a unique twist with its introduction to a world where humans and monsters live in unity and of course, there’s a human male doctor who treats monster girls with a monster girl as a sidekick.

Other than the storyline, you’re in for some pretty mediocre art and CGI. We’re also introduced to characters with typical personalities with a jealous Sapphee and a completely oblivious Dr.Glenn.

I. Plot

Long ago, humans and monsters fought one another in a seemingly unending war, battling each other until weariness was all that remained on both sides and the meaning of this century-old war was lost.

Now, in more modern times, monsters and humans cohabitate in the same world. One such pair is Dr. Glenn Litbeit and Lamia girl Saphentite “Sapphee” Neikes, a human-monster doctor duo who take care of the monster girls in the city of Lindworm.

II. Characters

The main character, Glenn is a human male from a merchant family who specialized in medicines during the war. He strives to become a doctor for the monster population of the city of Lindworm. He is rather humble and easy-going. Glenn cares the most about his patients and doing what is best for them.

Glen has gone out of his way to help and save others for nothing in return. His calm demeanor and quick mind allow him to treat everyone from a harpy girl to an immortal dragon. This tends to make him have a cadre of girls vying for his affection, much to the annoyance of Sapphee.

Glenn’s childhood friend and assistant in the clinic who goes by the nickname of Sapphee. She organizes the clinic and monitors the fairies that assist them.

She is a rare albino lamia so she has to wear a special outfit when she goes out into the sunlight.

Her family was also merchants during the war, allying with the Leitbeit family to aid the wounded and ensure medicine production on both sides.

In the first episode, we can see Sapphee’s jealousy when Tisalia expresses that she wishes to marry someone like Glen. This tells us that she has feelings for the doctor.

III. Setting

The series is set in the town of Lindworm where monsters and humans live together in harmony.

The animation and art for the show are rather two-dimensional and don’t do much in terms of defining a character’s graceful movements and doesn’t do justice to the background of Lindworm either.

IV. Theme Songs

The opening theme is “In the Sky Where the Bells Ring” (“Campanella Hibiku Sora de”), which is performed by the ARCANA PROJECT.

The song is rather welcoming and upbeat which may be a bit too much for the pace of Monster Girl Doctor, but is a good song nonetheless.

“The Name of Kindness”(“Yasahisa no Namae”), performed by Aina Suzuki is the ending theme of Monster Girl Doctor. The music in this song is slower and the singer’s voice fills you with a sense of upliftment.

5. Final Thoughts

Monster Girl Doctor’s blueprint seems quite predictable, with the characters being little more than a collection of typical personalities.

The story is interesting and maybe the only saving grace for this show. Hopefully, the next few episodes to come will have a whole lot more catchy and snappy writing to make up for a lack of captivating visuals.
