Will 2022 anime films bag an Oscar for Japan again?

Be it the 2022 Fifa World Cup or the anime industry, Japan has shown itself as a worthy international competitor in all fields this year. The country might fall short in other aspects, but we all know that no one can beat Japan regarding animation.

Anime has made massive progress globally in recent years, and its impact can be seen everywhere. Given the popularity and brilliance of anime, it’s obvious the industry has caught the attention of many, including the Oscars.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced 27 films eligible to be nominated for the Animated Feature Film category at the 95th annual Academy Awards.

Out of these 27 titles, three are anime films, and they are as follows:

All three films stirred up a storm this year with their powerful storylines and impeccable animation. While they did great at the box office and in the otaku community this year, there’s no guarantee they’ll be nominated for an Oscar.

Films like Howl’s Moving Castle, Spirited Away, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, and more have been nominated over the years. However, Spirited Away is the only one that has ever received an Oscar under this category.

We hope that one of these three films gets a nomination this time and brings the glory of the Oscar back to Japan.

Out of all three, Inu-Oh holds the most potential to win an award this year or even get nominated. The film is a soul-stirring masterpiece that everyone should watch once in their lifetime.

Drifting Home and ‘Goodbye, Don Glees!’ did well at the box office and had us hooked from the start until the end. Not one moment was a bore, and the story had great engaging factors.
