I Shave My Beard. Then I Pick Up a High School Girl. (Hige o Soru. Soshite Joshi Kōsei o Hirou.) is a Japanese light novel that started serializing in March 2017. It is part of an array of light novels on Kadokawa’s Sneaker Bunko on their website. The series is written by Shimesaba and illustrated by booota.

An announcement went live on the Sneaker Bunko website revealing that Hige o Soru. Soshite Joshi Kōsei o Hirou. is getting an anime adaptation.

The light novel has been serializing for almost 3 years now and has over 400,000 copies in circulation overall (digital copies included). The first compiled book started shipping in February 2018, the second volume was published as a compiled book in October 2018 and the third volume shipped in February 2019. The series has previously gotten a manga adaptation by Imaru Adachi in Kadokawa’s Monthly Shonen Ace magazine in November 2018.

This is Shimesaba’s first well-known novel. Booota is known for his work in Seven Senses of the Re’Union, penguin highway, and The Dark Maidens. 

About Hige O Soru. Soshite Joshi Kōsei o Hirou:

The Novel is of the romance and comedy genre which revolves around a 26-year-old man named Yoshida, who works as an employee at a major IT company. His life turns around once he meets a runaway high school girl named Sayu on his way home after drinking. Sayu suggests that they can sleep together if he provides her with shelter in his house. Yoshida gets angry and scolds her at first, however, he looks back at his life and remembers that he became a drunk after his 5 year-long crush rejected him, and eventually he lets her stay with him.
