‘Hunter x Hunter’ Anime Returning? When and What to Expect from Season 7

After four long years, Hunter x Hunter’s author Yoshihiro Togashi joins Twitter to answer every otaku’s prayer.

Every Hunter x Hunter stan’s mind was put at ease when Togashi tweeted, “four more chapters for the time being.” Since the tweet did not specify the number of chapters for the upcoming release, a follow-up tweet clarified that Togashi is trying to finish up an entire volume, and we can expect at least ten chapters.

Togashi has returned to the drawing board after a four-year hiatus due to his health issues intending to finish the Hunter x Hunter manga as promised, but what does this mean for anime-only fans?

With a few more volumes, the Hunter x Hunter anime could be renewed after an eight-year break.

We can only hope that Togashi stays healthy long enough to see his creation come back to life.

Hunter x Hunter Season 7 Release Date

The seventh season of Hunter X Hunter is yet to be announced. Season 7 might premiere as early as 2024, depending on Madhouse. If it chooses to continue the series, it will begin with episode 149.

The primary reason why Madhouse couldn’t continue the series after episode 148 is that Madhouse doesn’t have enough source material to turn into a full season until Togashi can publish additional manga.

Since Togashi-sensei has begun working on the manga again, we will get more chapters soon. We can expect the production to disclose more information about the renewal after releasing a few more volumes of the manga.

Characters in Hunter x Hunter season 7

Kurapaki will be a big part of Season 7, alongside a few additional characters returning, particularly Ging. The Dark Continent plot line in the manga shows relatively little of Gon and Killua Zoldyck. However, recent action suggests that they may return in season 7.

Expected Plot for Season 7

Season 7 of the anime will likely start from episode 149, adapting from chapter 340, ‘Special Mission,’ with 52 chapters at hand and a few more from Togashi. The renewal of season 7 isn’t far from us.

The Gon and Killua centric plot line will shift to the supporting characters of the universe and introduce a slew of new characters to the already expansive universe.

The following story arc, titled “Dark Continent Expedition,” would certainly be familiar to manga readers.

As for the anime fans in the next arc, Isaac Netero’s son launches an expedition to the unmapped Dark Continent on the Black Whale No.1, a gigantic ship capable of carrying 200,000 people under the Kakin Empire flag.

There we will meet Nasubi’s 14 children, who compete for the throne in a succession contest that results in a bloodbath on the ship.

Pressured by V6, the remaining Zodiacs attempt to stop Beyond Netero, enlisting the assistance of Leorio, while Ging joins Beyond’s party. Kurapika will join the eighth queen as a bodyguard for the voyage and finds himself involved in a fight for his clan’s eyes.
