4. Quick Review

I. Story and Characters

The story of the Chain Chronicle is a little messy. The series starts abruptly, and we’re thrown into a war between the protagonists and the dark king.

A scared book must be protected, and seemingly important characters randomly disappear. There is no proper introduction to the world of this exotic land, which is a little off-putting.

That aside, the clichéd heroic friendship bonds among the character were not forced, and that slowly explain the setting of the world pretty well.

The story focuses on multiple characters instead of a single protagonist. This makes the story more interesting.

Their personalities are diverse but memorable. Characters have great development, and towards the finale, they show an excellent depiction of the strongest points.

II. Animation and Sound

The animation for Chain Chronicles is extremely detailed and beautiful. The backgrounds especially, look absolutely stunning. All the action sequences are powerful and well-choreographed.

The soundtrack sounds like it’s straight out of a game with powerful and elegant beats. It adds to the beauty of the animation, inducing goosebumps in all the major battles.

5. TV Series vs. Movies

There is practically no difference in the events that take place in the movies and in the TV series of Chain Chronicles. The only notable difference is that the TV series has an opening and an ending theme.

Basically, the movies are segmented in 20-minute episodes to form the TV series.

  • Movie Part 1: Episodes 1-4
  • Movie Part 2: Episodes 5-8
  • Movie Part 3: Episodes 9-12

Feel free to skip the movies if you watch the TV series and vice-versa.

Despite small disputes among these kingdoms, the kings frequently gather together and hold meetings ensuring peace in their own lands.

However, the peace gets disrupted after a dark army appears, threatening the peace.

After the dark army succeeds by defeating the volunteer army (the good guys), they take away half of a scared book called the Chronicle, which contains the history of all mankind.

The volunteer army sets off a journey where they train and gather more allies to overthrow the dark king.
