A supernatural entity known as Boogiepop is a Shinigami who is famous for murdering people when they physically reach their most beautiful selves.

However, this is not its true nature, and only a selected few know about it.

Actually, Boogiepop is a guardian who awakens for certain periods and manifests as the alter ego of a high schooler, Touka Miyashita, to fight the enemies of our world.

When the mysterious disappearances of students are covered as runaway cases, the Boogiepop awakens again. However, the true enemies this time are far more malicious and mysterious, lurking in the academy itself.
