The Basim battle is part of the long “A Brother’s Keeper” mission. The boss battle starts once Eivor returns from the Hall of the Slain and finds Basim trying to attack. The fight is divided into three phases and reveals Basim’s true intentions for attacking the people he chose to befriend, so get ready for some major spoilers.
1. How to Beat Basim in AC Valhalla?
Defeating Basim in the “A Brother’s Keeper” battle is quite easy in AC Valhalla. In order to defeat Basim, players just need to parry his attacks while aggressively attacking till they trigger a cutscene announcing the next phase of the battle. After three phases, Basim will be finally defeated by Eivor.
The Basim battle is a three phase long journey for Eivor that reveals Basim’s true purpose and hatred towards the reincarnations of the forgotten Isu warriors. The phases are:
I. Phase 1
At the start of the fight, Basim will have melee attacks like sword and bow and arrows and smoke bombs. Although, in this phase Basim does not have a health bar, you can still dodge his attacks and counterattack whenever you get the chance.
Basim will try to use a smoke bomb and shoot arrows from the ledges on top of the platform. Be sure to keep an eye out.
After five minutes of fight, a cutscene will trigger and the platform will start rising and the battle will move on to the next phase.
II. Phase 2
In phase 2, Basim will be more aggressive and try to attack before fleeing the platform. Players will need to do some major parkour moves to get to Basim and jump up and down some obstacles.
Don’t forget to collect any rations lying around to get the health and stamina regeneration.
Reaching Basim will start yet another cutscene where Eivor saves Sigurd from dying in the hands of Basim and the final phase will take place.
III. Phase 3
In the final phase of the battle, players just need to aggressively spam their attack button and strike Basim over and over again while also dodging his counter attacks. The end of the battle will trigger once players are able to successfully stun Basim.
After the stun, the end scene will show Basim being attached to the mechanical arm and being sent to the Animus world to suffer.
Tip: Make sure to fill your quiver with arrows and get as many heals before the fight as possible.
2. Is Basim Bad in AC Valhalla?
Although Basim becomes friends with Eivor and Sigurd, his true intentions are revealed by the end of the “A Brother’s Keeper” mission and he is revealed to be the bad guy all along.
Basim turns out to be the reincarnation of Loki trying to take revenge on Eivor for killing his son and taking revenge on all the Isu warriors of the past.
Basim is able to transfer his spirit into the Animus world and travel to Layla’s time before managing to slip into the real world. Only time can tell his true purpose of doing so.
3. How to Get the Best Ending in AC Valhalla?
To get the best ending in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, make sure that you don’t opt for these options while playing, since choosing three or more will make Sigurd leave your side.
- If Eivor steals Styrbjorn’s cargo.
- If Eivor starts a relationship with Randvi before her and Sigurd’s separation.
- If Eivor punches Basim and Sigurd during the Oxenfordscire mission.
- If Eivor denies Dag’s axe in their final fight.
- If Eivor denies Sigurd’s judgement.
The ending will trigger immediately after Eivor’s fight with Basim, so make sure you have these options sorted beforehand.
With the ending set into place, you can always return to Eivor’s world and complete the mysteries and side quest left to complete.
