Horimiya Surpasses Kaguya-Sama To Become The Biggest Romantic Comedy Debut For Winter 2021

Based on Hero’s 2007 manga Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, the anime adaptation was released on January 10, 2021, and after episode 1 aired, the series easily topped some charts.

Horimiya recently broke some major records in MyAnimeList for having the Biggest Romantic Comedy Debut for Winter 2021.

The record was held earlier by Rent-A-Girlfriend but Horimiya surpassed it as well.

Over 63,000 MyAnimeList users had added Horimiya to their watchlist and after its excellent premiere garnered over 69,000 fans. Rent-A-Girlfriend had about 55,228 watchers bookmarking the anime till Horimiya quickly caught up.

Soon enough, Horimiya caught up to its biggest competitor, the fan-favourite Kaguya-sama: Love is War which had 82,808 users listed. Horimiya currently has over 89,000 watchers making it the top rank holder.

Hero’s Horimiya tells the story of two high school students Miyamura and Hori. They both find out each other’s secret personas and promise to keep them a secret. With that new promise, they slowly grow closer and eventually fall for each other.

The manga has over 15 published volumes which later paved the way for 6 OVAs and now a currently airing anime adaptation with episode 1 recently aired on January 10.

We are looking forward to more of Horimiya’s achievements later on as well.
