One word that can perfectly describe both the series is “Unpredictable.” These mangas bend every rule, and the characters pull up tricks like it’s no big deal.

Both the mangas are action-based, and the protagonists don’t cap what they feel. Both Gabimaru and Denji acquire powers that make them extraordinary.

Manga Plus has organized an interview where the mangakas behind Jigokuraku and Chainsaw Manh dissect the manga of the other person. What would we not give for their insight into their rival?

Tatsuki Fujimoto (Chainsaw Man) on Jigokuraku

Tatsuki sensei talks about how Kaku sensei has kept the manga’s idea pretty much the same since their discussion about it.

According to him, the shadows drawn on the character is a work of art.

For Tatsuki sensei, the character of Gabimaru reflects Kaku sensei himself. Although Gabimaru seems outrageous at first, his kindness slowly becomes visible.

Kaku sensei looks like an ordinary person at first, but he is interested in many unusual things.

His favorite character is Sagiri, and he thinks it is Kaku sensei’s signature style to make the women in his manga cute.

Yuji Kaku (Jigokuraku) on Chainsaw Man

Kaku sensei appreciates how the violent and messy essence of the manga can be captured from the art style itself. Denji is similar to Fujimoto sensei as well, mainly because of their tone of talking.

The Jigokuraku author expresses that both of them are interested in scenarios which hit different, yet inspire a sense of realism. In Chainsaw Man, the plot is unique, yet the reader can relate to it.

The designs of the devils in Chainsaw Man are very on-your-face. The elements are not subtly integrated; rather, Denji has a chainsaw just stuck on him. His designs have a sense of comedy integrated into them.
