Hajime Isayama Honored at the 50th Angoulême International Comics Festival

Attack on Titan has received so much love from fans that even if the manga has ended, the hype is still the same. Although this is mainly because of the upcoming third part, we cannot ignore the achievements that the series has received in its lifetime.

With that said, the franchise has earned another feather.

On Sunday, the 50th Angoulême International Comics Festival announced that Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan has received the Fauve Spécial de la 50e édition award.

The 50th Angoulême International Comics Festival was held in the Angoulême area of France from January 26 to January 29. The event was initiated in 1974 to celebrate and honor comics from all around the world.

Ryoichi Ikegami, known for Crying Freeman, and Junji Ito, known for Gyo and Tomie were also awarded the Fauves d’Honneur award.

Blood on the Tracks (Chi no Wadachi), a psychological horror manga series by Shuzo Oshimi won the Prix de la série award.

The historical-themed manga series Ishi no Hana by Hisashi Sakaguchiwon the Prix du Patrimoine award.

The official selection for the awards also includes four other titles – Masakazu Ishiguro’s Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku-Daimaikyo), Shun Umezawa’s The Darwin Incident (Darwin Jihen), Kasumi Yasuda’s Fool Night, and Kazuyoshi Takeda’s Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise (Peleliu: Rakuen no Guernica).

Attack on Titan is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama. Kodansha publishes it in the Bessatsu Shonen Magazine.

The manga began serialization on September 9th, 2009, and ended on April 9, 2021. It has been compiled into 34 volumes.

Attack on Titan follows humanity settled within three concentric walls to protect themselves from the terrifying titans that prey on them.
