On November 20, the official website for the Gridman Universe anime film released the teaser trailer and a new key visual for the film. The trailer reveals additional cast members and the March 24 premiere date.
The cast members revealed are:
- Ryousuke Takahashi as Caliber
- Katsuyuki Konishi as Max
- Aoi Yuki as Borr
- Masaya Matsukaze as Vit
- Mayumi Shintani as Rikka’s mother
- enichi Suzumura as Knight
- Karin Takahashi as The 2nd
- Suzuko Mimori as Namiko
- kari Kito as Hassu
The film is being directed by Akira Amemiya at Studio Trigger. Other staff members include scriptwriter Keiichi Hasegawa, character designer Masaru Sakamoto, and composer Shiro Sagisu.
The first anime in the ‘Gridman Universe’ franchise was SSSS. Gridman series, consisting of 12-episodes. The series debuted in October 2018 and was a collaboration between the anime studios Trigger and Tsuburaya Productions. The Ultraman franchise and original 1993 live-action series Denko Chojin Gridman were also produced by Tsuburaya Productions.
The second anime is Gridman Universe, SSSS. Dynazenon, premiered in April 2021. The anime ended in June 2021 with a teaser card for the “Next Gridman Universe” and the words Gridman x Dynazenon.
The franchise also inspired a stage play, a manga adaptation, and a novel spin-off.
About Gridman Universe
Gridman Universe is an original film that features a crossover between the characters and worldviews of SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, with Studio TRIGGER combining at the helm.
In SSSS.Gridman the plot focuses on Yūta Hibiki, an amnesiac high school student living in the fictional city of Tsutsujidai. He meets the Hyper Agent Gridman in an old computer, who states that the boy has a mission he must fulfill and sets out to find the meaning of those words and his memory loss.
The film is set to premiere on March 24, 2022 and is being directed by Akira Amemiya.
