The God of High School, by Yongje Park, is a famous Korean manhwa webtoon currently in its sixth season Re: Battle with Gods.
The God of High School anime’s second episode came out this Monday and initiated the 1 vs 1 combat round of the tournament. Here’s my complete review of the GOH anime as a whole – The God of High School Review.
GOH episode 2, titled “Renewal/Soul,” anime kicks off from the chapter 8th chapter of the manhwa webtoon and ends at the end of chapter 12.
We see the beginning of the combat round of God of High School tournament along with various character introductions such as Miseon Mah and Seungcheol Baek. GOH episode 3 will be coming out next Monday, let’s talk about that now.
1. God of High School Episode 3 Release Date
Episode 3 of The God of High School anime will be released on Monday, July 20, at 7:30 am PDT. The title for the next episode has not been revealed yet.
In the next episode, we will see Mujin Park and other executives making a decision on Mori’s rule violations – the most accurate punishment is disqualification. Does that mean Mori Jin is out of the tournament?
It will be interesting to see how things pan out in GOH Episode 3.
2. Episode 3 Preview & Predictions
The God of High School episode 2 ended with Mori being taken out of the ring by executives. Unfortunately, there was no preview in the first episode so all we are left with are spoilers and predictions.
Let’s begin with the predictions first. There is a lot that could happen in the third of episode GOH anime.
I. Episode 3 Predictions
If there is one thing, we can all agree on, it is that Mori was pretty badass when he KO-ed Mansuk with just one attack: Renewal Taekwondo Jin Hoechook (Tripple Kick).
It is unknown what would Mori’s punishment yet since there was no preview for the third episode of God of High School. Mori, for sure, is not going to be disqualified just yet.
What will his punishment be?
II. Episode 3 Spoilers
If episode 3 follows the webtoon chapter timeline, the decision for Mori’s potential disqualification will not be taken in the third episode.
In the next episode we will be shown more fights from Block A of the GOH tournament. The noteworthy fights will be between Daewi Han vs. Seungcheol Baek and Mira Yoo vs. Miseon Mah.
Fans are also concerned about the fast pacing of the anime.
There is also a probability of an unofficial fight that is going to blow your minds! If you are interested in more thorough spoilers, don’t worry, I have discussed them properly at the end of this post. Read on and you won’t be disappointed!

4. Episode 2 Recap & Discussion
Episode 2, titled “Renewal/Soul,” starts with the discussion at US Military headquarters (Info from webtoon: it’s the lowest level of Pentagon) about the mysterious disappearance of an entre island in South Korea.
The director confirms that this could with the work of a Charyeok. Mujin Park enters and announces himself as the member of Republic of Korea National Assembly, and is then taken with the in-charge.
(Charyeok is one of the most fundamental fighting styles in later parts of God of High School manhwa. For now, it’s one of the biggest spoilers for someone who hasn’t read the manga, I strongly advise against surfing the web as it will ruin that “OH! WTF!!!” moment for you.)
The focus shifts back to the tournament – Mori is getting healed for some reason while the Judges/Executives are talking about Park’s absence and ‘what happened during the end of Battle Royale.’
‘What happened’ was Mira attacking Mori – now this was one of the most hilarious scenes in the manhwa webtoon and it being cut off from the anime kind of felt bad.
Next, we see that Mori and Daewi are heading to their respective homes with Mira who is annoyed by their presence. There it is! The EPIC scene where Mira attacks Mori and breaks his neck for biting her sword.
They reach on a bridge while talking to each other – Mori tells that he is in the tournament for fighting strong guys, Daewi needs money, while Mira wants to revive her family sword dojo.
Mori, being Mori, accidently loses Mira’s treasured sword into the lake and gets slapped by her. She starts searching for it but begins to give up. Mori then appears and starts helping her followed by Daewi.
Again, they cut yet another hilarious scene from the manhwa webtoon – the Biker gang from episode 1 strikes again. They beat them in 5 seconds and use their motorcycle headlights to find the sword!
The GOH tournament’s combat round begins next day. Ps… did you notice the logos in the arena? Apparently, the event is brought to you by Webtoons and Crunchyroll! LOL!
The matches begin! Mira Yoo, Daewi Han, Mori Jin, Miseon Mah, Seungcheol Baek – everyone beats their opponents with ease. Although, Baek’s EPIC match being cut short was a dealbreaker for me.
The most interesting match begins and despite his best efforts Gamdo Go is being beaten to a pulp by Gang Manseok. Mori suddenly appears in the ring saying “that he hates his Taekwondo now,” and KO-es Manseok in one kick! (This guy is so strong and cool…).
Manseok then gets up, unleashes his full power, and Mori again beats him with one attack – Tripple Kick! Mori is then taken by Mujin and other executives to decide his punishment for violating the tournament rules.
5. What happens next? – MAJOR SPOILERS
The second episode covered chapters 8 through 12 of the GOH webtoon and it’s likely that episode 3 will cover chapters 13 through 16.
Please note that the content ahead contains major spoilers from the webtoon, however to keep the interest of the reader I have hidden the outcome of each user. You are welcome!
I. ITF Taekwondo vs. RE Taekwondo
Around two decades before the current timeline, North Korea started some experiments with their USSR and Chinese allies using their technology and 5000-year old history of Chinese Kenpo (Kung Fu).
The result was the creation of strongest combat-style martial arts – Northern-style Taekwondo, aka ITF Taekwondo. Yes, this is the one practiced by Manseok Gang.
The first user and creator of ITF Taekwondo singlehandedly invaded South Korea and defeated several soldiers without any weapons.
Upon his capture, 50 marital artists from the entirety of South Korea were called to fight this prisoner of war and he defeated all of them alone.
One of the fifty was Mori’s grandfather Taejin Jin, the current strongest character in The God of High School series.
Upon President’s orders research was conducted and Taejin Jin managed to create a Southern-style Taekwondo which filled all the gaps in the ITF and was several folds stronger.
It was called the Renewal Taekwondo or RE Taekwondo, currently practiced by Taejin Jin and his adoptive grandson Mori Jin.
II. Judge Q vs. R
Before deciding Mori’s punishment, three major fights happen in The God of High School manhwa webtoon. The first of them is Judge Q vs. Judge R. They never liked each other much and are now ready to settle the score once and for all.
Judge Q is the direct descendant of Joker clan while Judge R has mysterious power to control wind. Who will win? Will they even show this epic fight in episode 3?
III. Miseon vs. Mira
The time has come for two of the strongest female participants to duke it out in the ring.
The next match is pro-wrestler Miseon Mah, who has the strength throw boys around with suplexes like they are plastic toys, vs. Mira Yoo, the master swordsman from Moon-light Sword-style Dojo.
Who do you think will win? Can Mira overcome her internal weakness and beat Miseon?
IV. Daewi vs. Baek
The third match will be between Daewi Han and Seungcheol Baek. The former is a straightforward guy with an indomitable will while the latter is a literal genius both in academia and martial arts.
Who do you think will win? Will Baek defeat Daewi with his wits or will Daewi force Baek into losing through his willpower and brawns.
V. Mori’s Punishment
The webtoon shows the decision for Mori’s punishment much later after Daewi’s fight, however, it is unlikely that anime will wait for that amount of time. The preview images tell the same story:
If I ever to put the punishment in the least amounts of spoilers, I would say, Mori will be fighting a certain someone and if he’s able to make him/her fall on the ground even once, he’s allowed to stay.
6. About God of High School
The God of High School or GOH is a South Korean webtoon written by Yongje Park. God of High School was first posted on Naver Webtoon on 8 April 2011; it was one of the first webtoons to receive an English translation at the launch of Line Webtoon app and website in July 2014.
