Gintama is the anime king of making utter fools out of its audience. Although the main character, Gintoki, is a samurai, the series specializes in its running gags and signature comic elements.
Each character in the anime has their own weird twist. Not one person is entirely sane. We can see Shinpachi struggle as he tries to justify and narrate the incidents as they occur.
Gintama The Final film will be released on 8th January, but it will not be the last addition to the series (as expected).
A new net-anime series is announced, and it will premiere on 15th January. A trailer video has been released, which makes it clear that the net-anime will exclusively premiere on dTV.
The trailer opens in the signature Gintama style, by showing the front area of Yorozuya. Gintoki complains about this and that throughout the entire video.
He banters on about how Gintama The Final film was just a marketing tactic to hype the upcoming film.
He even complains about how this video isn’t even a proper trailer because it doesn’t provide any visual or action. Who else can we trust to grumble about their own anime?
The new net-anime series will debut after Gintama The Final film. The film’s plot will consist of the finale of the manga as well as some additional stories.
Staff or plot for the net-anime has not been revealed yet. It might be a sequel to the original series and feature an all-new plotline. dTV is a Japanese streaming service, and we hope the series gets licensed outside Japan as well.
About Gintama
The story is set in an alternate-history late-Edo period, where humanity is attacked by aliens called “Amanto.”
Edo Japan’s samurai fight to defend Earth, but the shōgun cowardly surrenders when he realizes the aliens’ power.
He agrees to an unequal contract with the aliens, placing a ban on carrying swords in public and allowing the invaders to enter the country.
The samurai’s swords are confiscated, and the Tokugawa bakufu becomes a puppet government.
The series focuses on an eccentric samurai, Gintoki Sakata, who works as an odd-jobs freelancer. Although the story is mostly episodic, a few story arcs and recurring antagonists develop.
