No matter what you think, Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of the most iconic anime of all time. The creator, Hideko Anno, has put 26 years of his life to finally complete the series with the final movie, but he isn’t done just yet.
Like every live event last year, the San Diego Comic-Con too was canceled. The pandemic continues to haunt us, ruining events like before. However, this year, the Comic-Con has gone virtual, which opened up possibilities for some unique guests.
Neon Genesis Evangelion’s creator, Hideki Anno, has revealed his future plans in his interview during the Amazon Panel of Comic Con@Home 2021 event. The famous director plans to work on live-action projects instead of Evangelion in the near future.
He discusses how the live-action medium is different from animation and that he plans to do some things that can’t be done in the anime medium. Although he has decided to stray away from Evangelion for a while, it’s too soon to rule out a possible live-action adaptation!
Anno also reveals how he was surprised by the universal reception for Evangelion and discusses the latest film’s ending. Initially, the series was made for a domestic audience, but then ended up getting international critical acclaim.
The final movie of the franchise, Evangelion 3.0+1.01: Thrice Upon a Time along with the previous movies will be released on Amazon Prime Video on 13th August 2021. The interview was conducted to commemorate the release.
Whatever Anno decides to put out, be it a live-action film or an anime, we know it’s going to be good, Evangelion or not.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese anime television series produced by Gainax and Tatsunoko Production. It was directed by Hideaki Anno and broadcast on TV Tokyo from October 1995 to March 1996.
This series revolves around Shinji Ikari, who was recruited by his father to battle giant monsters (called Angels) in enormous mecha suits (called Evangelion).
Shinji has a hard time bearing this responsibility, and his inner conflict about these events leads to introspective episodes covering a range of religious and existential questions.
