So obviously, when the mangaka of two of the most iconic franchises applaud each other on global platforms, it’s bound to catch a lot of attention.

Detective Conan and One Piece published their 100th volume accompanied by glorious celebrations and notable releases from the franchise.

Being two of the longest-running manga, they have gathered a huge fan following that breaks the internet every time something happens.

Naturally, a little interaction between the creators of these two franchises had no chances of escaping their fans’ hawk-like eyes.

One Piece’s creator Eiichiro Oda took to Weekly Shonen Jump’s ‘Mangaka Musings’ column to congratulate Gosho Aoyama on Detective Conan’s 100th volume.

Oda wrote, “I’ve never met him (Aoyama), but he feels like a comrade in arms,” as translated by Viz Media’s blog.

He further mentioned how he understands the struggle of reaching 100 volumes of manga and praised him for achieving this feat.

Contrary to the popular assumption that famous people in the same industry avoid interacting, mangaka are pretty supportive of each other.

We’ve all witnessed countless wholesome and funny exchanges between the authors over Twitter, Instagram, and more.

So when Oda congratulated Aoyama on WSJ this week, he melted the hearts of everyone in both fandoms.

Even though the franchises have been going on for years, they still keep their fans entertained without getting stale. People who used to watch the anime as kids still wait for new episodes every week, even in their busy adult lives.

This may be just a simple congratulations from one mangaka to the other, but it doesn’t stop us from cooking up theories about a collaboration :).
