It opened in Japan on June 11, 2022, and grossed a total of 670 million yen (approx. US$4.99 million) with a sale of 498,000 tickets in the first two days. On June 19, the sale was already worth over 1.27 billion yen (approx. US$9.43 million).

Such a milestone calls for a celebration, so Toei Animation has announced that it will stream the movie’s first five minutes on its official YouTube channel. The video will be up today from 6:00 p.m. JST (5:00 a.m. EDT) till Sunday till 11:59 p.m. JST (10:59 a.m. EDT).

Fans have been showing their love generously this time. Even those who left Dragon Ball growing up are going to watch this masterpiece, all for the sake of nostalgia.

But that’s not the only reason. The film features a brand new original story and animation style, along with bringing back some old elements from the previous parts.

It’s crazy to think that these figures are only from one country. I can’t even imagine how insane it would get when the film reaches theaters worldwide in August.
