Fans have been really excited about finally getting a connected arc in Dragon Ball. “Granola The Survivor” ties in with the previous “Galactic Patrol Prisoner.” However, the new drafts reveal that Granola is also connected to the Frieza arc from the original Dragon Ball series.

1. Granola’s Origin & Motive

The manga’s chapter opens with a past memory of when Frieza’s army destroyed Granola’s home planet. He is accompanied by Oatmil, and apparently, they have obtained Seven-Three. They have also destroyed Goichi’s ship.

Granola recounts that his planet was destroyed by Saiyans who were the lackeys of Frieza. However, both Frieza and the Saiyans are now dead, so he does not understand why he still dreams of them.

It is likely that Granola will come after Goku and Vegeta because they are Saiyans. Vegeta seems to be particularly in danger as he used to be in Frieza’s army.

2. Bad Omen

Meanwhile, the Oracle fish on Beerus’s planet is unable to sleep. Whis says that it is generally a bad omen when the fish can’t sleep. Goku gets excited at the prospect of another powerful enemy when Whis says that the sign cannot be trusted.

This brings down Goku’s mood, and Beerus berates him for his attitude. Goku then trains with Whis by transforming into his Ultra Instinct Mode.

Granola, the new villain, does not seem to have an overly evil motive like destroying the Earth or the entire Universe (yet). His main aim is to seek revenge against Saiyans, so our heroes will obviously be targeted.

However, suppose he is somehow convinced that Goku is innocent and that Vegeta has strayed from the evil path. In that case, he might become an ‘enemy-turned-ally.’ Of course, a lot of action scenes will take place before any conclusions are drawn.

Will the Ultra Instinct be enough to defeat this enemy, or will Goku need another transformation?

3. About Dragon Ball Super

Dragon Ball Super came into serialization in June 2015, edited and illustrated by Akira Toriyama and his protege Toyotaru, respectively.

Dragon Ball Super takes the DB universe to another level by introducing the long asleep God of Destruction, Beerus.

Beerus initially decided to decimate Earth but postpones his plans when discovering the fantastic food he had never eaten. He also hopes to fight Super Saiyajin God one day.
