Does Kawaki not have karma anymore? Who took it?

After the truth behind the Karma marks was revealed, it seemed impossible to kill an Ohtsutsuki. However, in the recent chapters, a way showed itself. Amado contacted Naruto and Sasuke, claiming to know how to kill Isshiki.

Apparently, after fourteen boys were killed in an attempt to implant Karma for Isshiki, Amado defected and started to plan the downfall of Otsutsuki.

In chapter 47, we see Amado’s plan of killing an Ohtsutsuki come close to fruition. However, this plan of his may cause Kawaki to lose his Karma forever.

1. Does Kawaki not have karma anymore?

Kawaki does not have Karma anymore… atleast for the moment. After Isshiki reincarnates using Jigen’s body, it results in the Karma implanted in Kawaki, to be erased.

This is because once an Ohtsutsuki reincarnates using a vessel, all other Karma implanted onto other vessels are simultaneously erased. This is a safety measure to prevent the risk of creating duplicate copies of the same person.

2. Why does Kawaki not have Karma anymore?

When an Ohtsutsuki dies, the transfer into one’s vessel begins immediately. It is a strict rule of Karma, and even Isshiki cannot control it.

While Jigen may be medically dead, as an Ohtsutsuki vessel, it is still functional. Hence, Isshiki is ultimately reincarnated using Jigen’s body.

When this happens, the Karma mark on Kawaki disappears because once an Ohtsutsuki reincarnates using a vessel, all other Karma implanted onto other vessels are simultaneously erased. This is a safety measure to prevent the risk of creating duplicates of the same person.

I. Amado’s plan to kill an Ohtsutsuki

After fourteen boys were killed in an attempt to implant Karma for Isshiki, Amado decides to plan the downfall of Otsutsuki. This plan finally comes close to fruition in the latest chapter.

After the last battle against Naruto and Sasuke, Jigen has not entirely recovered. Due to that, he is unable to shrink all the eternally burning fire of Kenshin. A few moments later, Jigen burns to death, along with Isshiki inside him.

However, when an Ohtsutsuki dies, the transfer into one’s vessel begins immediately, and while Jigen may be medically dead, as an Ohtsutsuki vessel, his body is still enough to support Isshiki’s reincarnation.

Hence, Isshiki soon reincarnates using Jigen’s body, which results in the Karma implanted in Kawaki to be erased. As Isshiki doesn’t have any more vessels or implanted Karma, this is the only chance for Kashin Koji and the others to kill the supposedly immortal Isshiki Otsutsuki.

II. Will Kawaki get Karma back?

In the latest chapters, the Karma mark on Kawaki disappears as once an Ohtsutsuki reincarnates using a vessel, all other Karma implanted onto other vessels are simultaneously erased.

However, at the start of this series, we saw a scene from the future where Boruto and Kawaki were both covered in Karma marks.

Taking this into consideration, there’s a high chance of Kawaki getting Karma back. He may get it back when fighting off against Isshiki or through some other method.

3. Is Jigen dead?

After the last battle against Naruto and Sasuke, Jigen has not entirely recovered. Due to that, he cannot manifest Isshiki’s powers and shrink all the eternally burning fire of Kenshin.
