Does Hisoka Die In Hunter x Hunter?

Hunter x Hunter has received widespread attention both in Japan as well as internationally. It has solidified its place as one of the most popular shounen series despite the long hiatus and discontinuation of the anime.

Nevertheless, the manga is still going on, and it recently concluded the most anticipated fights of all time – Hisoka Vs. Chrollo.

However, the results were different than what most expected, and we saw Hisoka, one of the most interesting characters and antagonists, die.

With such an anti-climatic end, fans wonder whether this will be the last time they see him.

1. Does Hisoka Die In Hunter x Hunter?

Hisoka loves to fight against the strong, and therefore, he had been longing to battle against the leader of the Phantom Troupe. However, the latter’s Nen was sealed by Kurapika.

To fight Chrollo at his peak, Hisoka left the group and found a way to break his seal. Hisoka then fought Chrollo in the Heavens Arena and died in the Hunter x Hunter series. However, he was later revived.

2. How Does Hisoka Die?

After his Nen is unsealed, Chrollo finally agrees to fight Hisoka in a death match at the Heavens Arena. Chrollo, who is now capable of using two abilities simultaneously, proves to be a tough opponent to defeat. He uses multiple explosive puppets to blast and kill Hisoka.

The loss of a leg prevents the latter from escaping to the ceiling who therefore dies in the explosion.

After Hisoka’s death, Shalnark explains that the former used a large portion of the puppets as a “meat shield” which protected him from the bulk of the explosion, but ultimately died due to suffocation.

3. How Does Hisoka Come Back To Life?

After fighting against Chrollo, Hisoka died. However, when Machi attempted to stitch him up, his aura re-emerged from his body. It turns out that before dying, Hisoka had instructed his Nen to use Bungee Gum to restart his heart and lungs after his demise.

If a person has a strong will, then their Nen will not disperse for a while after death. Likewise, due to Hisoka’s intense desire, his Nen did not disperse and followed his instructions. This is how Hisoka came back to life.

4. How Strong Is Hisoka?

Hisoka is so powerful that other than his fight against Chrollo, he was almost always shown to be unmatched. The only reason Chrollo was able to ensure his victory was that he had already prepared a strategy and gathered Nen abilities to face Hisoka.

However, despite these disadvantageous circumstances, Hisoka proved to be a difficult opponent.

His tremendous physical abilities and combat skill make him extremely dangerous in a fight, and his expertise in Nen, tactical genius, and flexibility allow him to swiftly adapt to unexpected changes.

Illumi Zoldyck, who was estimated by the magician to be even more formidable than some Zodiacs, was wary of crossing Hisoka.

Other than his fearsome strength, agility, and endurance, Hisoka is endowed with a powerful, sinister aura. He is a Transmuter and manifests it primarily through his Nen ability, Bungee Gum. He is also proficient in Conjuration, Emission, and Enhancement.

Hisoka is also capable of using Ren, Gyo, and Ken, which allowed him to survive multiple explosions of The Sun and Moon. It is also likely that he is proficient at Zetsu and Ko.

His abilities and strength make Hisoka one of the strongest characters in the series and a top adversary of Gon.

5. Is Hisoka Weaker Than Chrollo?

While Chrollo did defeat Hisoka, it must be noted that he had put in a tremendous amount of preparation to pull this off, and even he acknowledged that. Before the fight, he had already prepared a strategy and gathered Nen abilities to ensure his victory.

The battle itself took place at the time and place that Chrollo set up. Due to this, he was able to control the audience and use them in the fight easily. After reviving, Hisoka himself stated that he would fight Chrollo in the place of his choosing the next time.

However, even despite these disadvantageous circumstances, Hisoka proved to be a tough opponent.

Due to the circumstances and differences in preparation, Hisoka lost. However, this does not mean that he is weaker than Chrollo.

Hunter x Hunter is a Shonen anime adapted from the manga of the same name. The story follows the adventures of a young boy, Gon discovering that his father wasn’t really dead but a legendary Hunter.
