Disney+ June Arrivals to Watch: Shows, Films & Docuseries

Wondering what to watch on Disney+ in June? Here is list of everything new on the platform from shows and films to documentaries.

From behind-the-scenes of the making of Frozen 2 to a historical movie, addition of some animated classics and a score of documentaries including the latest Chasing The Equinox, there is a lot to keep you busy.

Meanwhile, since the theaters continue to remain shut down, Artemis Fowl – originally set to release on May 29 – will premiere directly on Disney Plus come June 12.

There’s also the much-anticipated Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2 documentary that promises to offer a peek into the creative processes of one of the biggest Disney movies of all time.

Tarzan and the adventures of Percy Jackson will also be coming soon to Disney+.

Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things season 1, 2 – June 5

Comic and host Howie Mandel collates video submissions from all over the world into hourlong episodes that showcase animals doing amazing, adorable, and hilarious things. Get ready for some viral video catnip, dancing puppies, wrestling kittens, musical monkeys, and acrobatic lizards.

Weird but True! season 1, 2 – June 5

The brother-sister duo of Charlie and Kirby Engelman host this highly-rated series that explores the science between the planet and its wildlife. A different topic is explored in each episode by ecologist Charlie and artist Kirby. The siblings look to inspire young people to question the “how” and “why” of the world.

Mighty Med season 1, 2 – June 12

Teenage best friends Kaz and Oliver get the thrill of a lifetime when they land after-school jobs at Mighty Med, a secret hospital for superheroes as well as sci-fi and fantasy characters, where they discover that their favorite characters are not only real but living among them.

Disneyland: The Liberty Story – June 12

Walt Disney presents a combination of live-action and animated drama of America’s historical fight for freedom. Includes a segment from Johnny Tremain, depicting the Boston Tea Party and the battle at Concord, and is followed by Ben and Me.

Disneyland: The Story of the Animated Drawing – June 12

 Walt Disney discusses the history of animation.

101 Dalmatians Season 1 –June 19

This show features three Dalmatians, Lucky, Rolly, Cadpig and their chicken friend, Spot. Together, they defend their new home from Cruella DeVil.

Muppet Babies Play Date season 1 – June 19

Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, and friends explore their vast imagination to go on amazing adventures inside their nursery.

Schoolhouse Rock season 1 – June 19

Schoolhouse Rock is a highly rated American interstitial programming series of animated musical educational short films. The themes covered included grammar, science, economics, history, mathematics, and civics.

Artemis Fowl – June 12

Artemis Fowl is a 12-year-old genius and descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds. He soon finds himself in an epic battle against a race of powerful underground fairies who may be behind his father’s disappearance.

Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy – June 19

Bell and her friends go in search of a wayward fairy who fled Pixie Hollow and joined up with a band of scheming pirates led by the future Captain Hook.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief – June 26

Percy, who has dyslexia, is surprised to discover that he is a demigod. When he gets accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning bolt, he sets off to find the thief and prevent the fight between gods.

Tarzan – June 26

Tarzan, an orphan, raised by mountain gorillas, rescues a woman explorer, Jane. After realizing that he’s a human, Tarzan must choose between civilization and the jungle life.

Tarzan II – June 26

Tarzan, a feral boy, finds it impossible to fit in with his ape family. Tired of being the odd one out, he runs away but eventually meets someone who would help on his journey to self-discovery.

Alaska’s Grizzly Gauntlet season 1 – June 5

 The camera man and survivalist les Stroud is on a daunting journey through the kodiak wilderness. Explore with him the survival methods and social structure of the magnificent kodiak brown bear.

America’s Greatest Animals – June 5

This 2012 Nat Geo documentary takes us across North America on a revelatory mission. Find out which of the continent’s signature species have made the list.

Chasing the Equinox – June 5

The documentary examines how ancient civilizations built iconic monuments that align with the sun on the same day.

Secrets of Wild India – June 5

This David Attenborough special is a gem from 2012. Each chapter is named after an iconic species of India’s remaining wildlife. They include Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, Asian lion, among others.

Meanwhile, each episode also looks at a bigger picture of a type of biotope in another corner of the Indian subcontinent (jungle, Himalayas, desert).

The Greeks – June 5

Today’s Greece may stand for civic unrest, financial meltdowns, and long ATM lines. But their ancestors were also titled as creators of our present world, with their invention of democracy, promotion of art and athletics, and logic and reasoning.

Wild Hawaii season 1 – June 5

Here is yet another Nat Geo documentary from 2016, exploring the fiery heart of Hawaii. From volcanic eruptions spewing rivers of molten lava to spiders that smile, fish that climb and turtles bury secrets in the Hawaiian landscape.

Women of Impact: Changing the World – June 5

This Nat Geo documentary from October last year includes interviews with more than 40 history-making women. They live among primates in the jungle…dive the oceans for clues to the health of our planet, discover our human origins in African caves, and test new technologies in outer space.

Walt & El Grupo – June 12

Travel with Walt Disney through Latin America in the 1940s as he fulfills a de facto diplomatic mission for the US government and forges relationships with Latin artists.

Big Sur: Wild California – June 19

Here is a comprehensive doc of the spectacular California coastal area known as Big Sur through the eyes of three intrinsically connected native creatures: condors, sea otters, and mountain lions. Released in 2010, this, too, is a Nat Geo product.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen II – June 26

Get behind the cameras to enter the ever shut doors of Disney’s animation studios as it produces one of the biggest animation successes the world has seen.

Man in Space – June 26

This 1956 feature begins with a brief, lighthearted history of rockets, then presents discussions of satellites, a practical look (through humorous animation) at what humans will have to face in space (both physically and psychologically, such as momentum, weightlessness, radiation, even space sickness) and an imaginary view of a rocket’s takeoff into space. It was originally an episode of the series Disneyland.

Mars and Beyond – June 26

Aired in 1957, Mars and Beyond is another episode of Disneyland directed by Ward Kimball. It is narrated by Paul Frees, discussing the possibility of life on other planets, especially Mars.
