Did Levi Ackerman Die? Did Levi Actually Kill The Beast Titan?

The ambiguity regarding Levi’s health had fans mulling over its impact on the story. The final showdown between Levi vs. Zeke culminated in significant damage to both parties but not without an impressive game of tag between the two.

Levi’s absence in the coming chapters has fans thinking: Did Levi die, and did he actually kill the Beast Titan?

In Chapter 125, it’s revealed that Levi is alive but heavily injured. Levi did not kill the Beast Titan as Zeke induces an explosion and is later healed by Ymir Fritz in an unknown land connected to the Coordinate.

What happened to Levi?

In Chapter 114, Levi demonstrates his God-like powers by slaughtering 30 comrades-turned-titans and in his swift capture of Zeke. He cleverly sticks a thunder spear into Zeke’s stomach and connects it to an explosive to prevent Zeke’s movement.

However, this backfires when Zeke deliberately induces an explosion propelling Levi off the cart and causing massive damage to both of them.

In the next chapter, Hange finds a mutilated Levi and jumps into the river with his body to escape the Yeagerists’ notice. Levi’s absence in the coming chapters bore a heavy conclusion by fans — that of his death.

Fans struggled with this thought until in Chapter 125 — nearly 10 chapters later — the manga shows Levi. The chapter reveals Hange carrying a cart in which a heavily bandaged Levi lies.

Hange tells Pieck and Commander Magath that Levi is “nothing more than a harmless man who just refuses to die” in an attempt to quell any aggressiveness from their side.

Levi seems to be on the road to recovery. However, it is still uncertain whether he’ll return back to completely normal

Is the Beast Titan Dead?

Levi’s plan was always to capture the Beast Titan and feed him into Historia; therefore, his intention was never to kill (personal intentions aside).

Levi places a thunder spear in Zeke’s stomach as a threat rather than as a device to kill. Yet, he was unable to predict the odds that Zeke played with and was thrown off the cart by the explosion induced by Zeke.

The repercussions of the explosion inflicted Zeke as well — leaving him with a mutilated body on the verge of death. As he loses consciousness, one of the Titans he created approaches him and tears its stomach apart to store Zeke in it.

Soon, Zeke wakes up in an unknown land — a manifestation of the Coordinate — with his ancestor Ymir Fritz molding his body from the sand.

This breathes new life into Zeke, and he can engage in the battle between Eren and Marley in the Shiganshina district in the following chapters.

Will Levi Recover?

Levi Ackerman is definitely recovering, as seen from the past few chapters. He seems to be removed from any event of battle from now, but he has shown some liveliness through speech.

The extent of the damage to his body is unknown, so his return to battle hangs in uncertainty. For now, Levi is unable to move his body yet shows gradual signs of recovery.
