Detective Conan Gets Compilation Film About Ai Haibara In January

On December 7, the official website for Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine, the 26th feature film in the Detective Conan anime franchise announced that in, anticipation for the new film, the franchise will have a compilation film titled Detective Conan: Ai Haibara’s Story ~Jet-Black Mystery Train~.

The compilation film will recompile the anime’s four-episode “Jet-Black Mystery Train” arc, which runs from episodes 701-704. The film will also incorporate key scenes centering on the character Ai Haibara from other parts of the television anime’s run. 

The compilation film is set to release on January 5 and will include new footage at the end of the film that connects it to Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine.

The Detective Conan film franchise is based on Goushou Aoyama’s Shogakukan-published manga published in English as Detective Conan by Shogakukan Asia and as Case Closed by Viz media. 

The manga first launched in 1994 and as of September 2022 has 102 tankouban volumes. The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday and has been adapted into a TV anime that began in 1996 and is currently ongoing. 

The plot of Detective Conan follows a precocious high school student named Jimmy Kudo who uses his keen powers of observation and astute intuition to solve mysteries that even law enforcement officials are unable to solve. 

When he was working on catching one suspect in particular, he was captured and force-fed a strange chemical that physically transformed him into a child. After assuming the pseudonym Conan Edogawa, he attempts to find the people who did this to him. 

Jimmy now tirelessly searches for a cure for his bizarre condition while continuing to help the police solve their toughest cases.

The film is being directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa and Takeharu Sakurai is writing the screenplay. Yūgo Kanno is composing the music.

About Detective Conan

Detective Conan is a detective manga series by Gosho Aoyama. It was first serialized in 1994 and has been published for over two decades.

Shinichi Kudo, or Conan is a high school detective who has been turned into a child after consuming a toxin.

Along with the FBI and a variety of characters, he solves mysterious cases. He takes on the name of Conan and tries to pin down the syndicate responsible for shrinking him.
