Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the anime which broke all records there is to become a ‘Worldwide Blockbuster Hit’ is coming back for another intense action-packed season 2.
Demon Slayer season 1 concludes with Tanjiro and the team heading towards the train station for a new mission. This sets the stage for the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie where we saw some intense fights.
Amidst all the fierce and frenetic battles, we lost one of the brightest and bravest Hashira, ‘Rengoku’.
In his final moments, Rengoku asks Tanjiro to visit his family’s estate to find out more about his father’s lost flame techniques.
This gives us a glimpse of what Tanjiro’s next move will be. We will directly dive into this next thrilling mission with season 2.
So, the question remains, “When is Demon Slayer season 2 coming?”
1. Release Date: When Is Demon Slayer Season 2 Coming?
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 release date has been confirmed to be scheduled for fall 2021. As of now, no official date is announced from the franchise.
One of the reasons why the release date is not officially announced yet might be the tax evasion scandal of Ufotable. Demon Slayer’s animation studio, and its president, Hikaru Kondo faced a 137 million yen tax evasion case.
The company has already filed an amended tax return and paid the full amount. Hopefully, Demon Slayer’s season 2 will not be affected by it and we will get a confirmed release date soon.
Funimation will be streaming Demon Slayer season 2 once it is released.
2. Visuals For Demon Slayer Season 2
The latest visual is dominated by the Sound Hashira, Tengen, holding his signature twin yellow blades. Tengen’s wives and our main quad of Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are also in the visual.
There is a glimpse of the red light district where the next arc will take place, along with the Upper Moon Daki creeping in the background. We also see the phrase, “Cut through the night where demons live” written on the top.
The above visual gives us a better look at the Sound Hashira, “Tengen Uzui” one of the most powerful and skilled swordsmen in the entire Demon Slayer Corps.
3. Demon Slayer Season 2 Trailer
The official visual trailer begins with our first look at the cloth controlling, Upper Moon Demon Daki. The later part of the trailer shows a closer look at the key visual for the upcoming season 2.
The official trailer above shows that a new mission is set to take place in the Yoshiwara Entertainment District.
We get to see Tengen Uzui in action with his giant twin sword. Hopefully, the Sound Hashira fares a little better than the Flame Hashira.
4. New Characters
I. Tengen Uzui
Tengen Uzui is the Sound Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps. This jewel-wearing Shinobi uses a combination of sounds, swords, and bombs to combat demons. Tenjen has three hot ninja wives.
Daki is a tall, fair-skinned woman with large, lime green eyes with long eyelashes. She is a Demon affiliated with the Twelve Kizuki, being the second holder of the position of Upper-Rank Six. She is one of the main antagonists for season 2.
Gyutaro is Daki’s elder brother and the true holder of the Upper Moon Six title, according to Muzan Kibutsuji. He resides in his sister’s body most of the time. He is also an antagonist for season 2.
5. Plot: What To Expect In Season 2
Demon Slayer season 2 starts right after the Mugen Train movie, so the movie is a must-watch. In season 2, the events will take place from the Entertainment District Arc. It is the eighth arc from the manga which covers chapters 70-99.
Early on in season two, expect to see Tanjiro visit the Rengoku residence in search of a book that should hopefully contain secret techniques left behind by the Flame Hashiras of the past.
With this insight, Tanjiro hopes to learn more about his father’s special breathing technique and become stronger to protect his loved ones.
Later on, we may see Tengen, the Sound Hashira, who has three ninja wives named Makio, Suma, and Hinatsuru.
The three wives suspected that demons were hiding in the red light district Yoshiwara, so they disguised themselves as oiran(courtesans) and infiltrated a brothel.
Tengen’s wives have disappeared while on their information-gathering mission. Following these events, the Demon Slayer Corps sent out a new mission.
Tanjiro and his companions are to accompany the Sound Hashira to Yoshiwara for the new mission. To help search for Tengen’s missing wives who were investigating rumors of demons within the district and to hunt down the demons terrorizing the town.
In the movie, we saw how a powerful Hashira went up against an Upper Moon Demon and it ended tragically. That just shows how powerful the Upper Moon Demons are.
Even though Tanjiro and his companions are stronger than before, will it be enough? Will the Sound Hashira face the same fate as the Fire Hashira?
I’m hoping to see Tanjiro along with his companions and the Sound Hashira emerge victorious this time.
