Directed by Harou Sotozaki, the movie depicted the story of Tanjiro trying to avenge his family’s death while proving to be the greatest demon slayer, has become a massive crowd puller.

It saw great success within its first week of release and even held an impressive high rank worldwide.

Ranking at #1 in the fourth weekend of release, Mugen Train earned nearly US$16.854 million with over 1.296 million tickets from Saturday to Sunday over the weekend.

Mugen Train is the third highest grossing anime film of all time in Japan.

The film has earned a total of US$197 Million and counting making it the fifth highest earning film in Japan topping Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Demon Slayer Movie not only conquered the theatres but the manga also gained impressive rankings and popularity as well as breaking major sales record in the year of 2020.

Mugen Train earned US$43.85 million in Japan within its first three days of release, topping theatre charts.

It earned more than US$9.48 Million on the first day of screening alone with US$16.14 Million and US$15.67 Million the next two days following Day-1.

More anime films like “Violet Evergarden” and “Monster Strike The Movie” released in theatres but none of them could compete with the huge popularity of the Demon Slayer Movie.

“Monster Strike The Movie: Lucifer Zetsubō no Yoake” ranked #6 during its opening week whereas “Violet Evergarden: The Movie” dropped from #7 to #10 on the 8th week following its release.

Violet Evergarden anime movie earned about US$16.4 Million in total sales barely making any profit.

The Demon Slayer movie earned its massive success both due to popularity and sheer luck of premiering it at the right time. Nonetheless, the movie continues to break more records and earn impressive profits.
